It’s gonna be May! 🍜
I can’t help but feel like I’m starting off the month on a great foot. My mother-in-law was supposed to visit today, but she cancelled last minute. I was initially pretty bummed about it, but we decided to keep our brunch reservation anyway, since we're vaccinated & we could be socially distanced/outdoors. We got Pep fed and bundled up and arrived at the restaurant right when they opened -- 11am -- and we were the only people there for quite a while. That's my kind of social distancing. Pep was a literal perfect baby -- he happily napped the entire time and B and I got to chit chat, look at each other, and enjoy some tasty food together. In public. WHAT?!
Anyway, I got an arugula, tomato and cheese omelet with hash browns and bacon, and guys, I got a bellini. I don't know if I've ever had one? But they're delicious. There was an option to have "bottomless mimosas or bellinis" for $20 and let me just say.. had we not had Pep with us, that would have been a YOLO moment for sure.
Once we got home, B went outside to mow the lawn and work on fixing some rock walls in the yard that had taken a beating over the winter. I fed the baby, read him some nursery rhymes (check out how creepy that Peter, Peter one is.. I mean.. for real?!), got him down for a nap, and then used every second of his nap time to squeeze in a great workout, shower, and catch up on blog stuff. I always feel so lucky when he naps a little longer like he's doing now. I feel so rejuvenated getting some "me" time.
Slightly annoyingly, the scale has me up a pound from my lowest weight in quite a long time yesterday, but whatevs. Not letting it bother me, because I know I've been striking a much better balance this week. Brunch? Yes. Workouts and hydration and eating well at home? Also yes. Speaking of, I found a peanut butter cup ice cream that is 370 calories for a pint. It's pretty tasty, and the second ingredient is peanut butter, right after milk. I hate that it's marketed as "scandal-less" -- eyeroll -- but what are you gonna do. I also had to throw in some photos from meals I've made over the past week or so. I LOVE potatoes but don't usually make them, and I made two meals with mashed potatoes over this past week. No shame!
