Laundromat crisis | 09.03.2021
Dan: Do you remember my laundromat crisis when I went to university?
Phil: Oh, yes!
Dan: So my family did not have a washer-dryer and I did not understand laundry. My family, they did just not prepare me for life in many ways. I knew how to mop but I did not know how to work this thing. I actually didn't understand how the process of washing and drying clothes really works because I just have a clothes hanger in my garden. So, we get to university, I've worn all my clothes for two weeks. I walk into the communal laundromat, which you know social anxiety-wise is scary. Imagine all of these students just colleging it up.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: Just stood there, doing the drugs, making the outs with each other, just sitting. With this laundromat, I walk in, bumbling nerd: Like how do I do this? I put a pound in the machine. Open it. Put my clothes in. And then I just don't know what to do and I push all the buttons.
*Gleeful Phil laughter*
Dan: And it doesn't turn on and then people start staring at me because it's been like five minutes. And I'm just like looking really visibly lost trying to mash buttons on this thing and then I take everything out. People stare at me and they're like: Why did this guy just remove all of his washing? I go home. Have an existential crisis for like two hours in the middle of the night. I get a taxi to Phil's apartment and I just asked Phil to wash my clothes.
Phil: Yeah, I twas like: There's only so many buttons. How could you not make it switch on? *weird noises*
Dan *laughing*: You were like: I don't understand why this is an issue and I was like: Because! Like! It's not as simple issue of using a machine. I've had a whole mental breakdown. I'm spiralling. I'm very emotional. And I just need to use your freaking Bosch right now. Can you just wash my freaking trousers? And Phil is like: Okay, this guy is having a meltdown, this is very normal.
Phil: I was. Yeah, bish-bash-bosh. The laundry was so bad pressing the buttons, you actually just released soil into the drum at university. That's how wrong you pressed those buttons.
Dan: Probably, yeah.

Soulmates AU prompt: andromaquynh and 39?
@salzundhonig oh dear I took a while to get to this one, you changed blogs in-between xD but it fit to the fortnight prompt today, so I finally made myself write it!
anyhow, here goes...
Prompt: 'You and your soulmate share the same talents. What one learns, the other can also do.'
Oh man, I love that idea! Especially for the immortals, I mean they just have So Many skills that they could share... And after living together for a while, Andy & Quynh would definitely use it to their advantage with always one focusing on eg the language of a country they're travelling to and another learning a new fighting style... Also for post-canon Quynh, it would help her a lot to still have her aka Andromache's skillset instead of losing a lot through the time she spent drowning...
Oh man, there are so many ideas and I can't even decide what to write a ficlet about xD this AU deserves a proper fanfic, & if sb wants to do just that incorporating my ideas, feel free, just credit me/this post & let me know so I can read ittttt <3
How would this kind of skill sharing work though? Bc I was just thinking, it would be pretty damn weird if a newborn Quynh could talk in however many languages Andy speaks xD but then I'm thinking that that would bever problematic not just in that case but for normal mortals with even just 1+year age differences, too... So I'd say that when there's an age difference, a child gains more and more of their older soulmates skills growing up, and the skills line up completely once they're 18-20 or something. For the older person, they'd just gain whatever additional skills their soulmate slowly learns, so when Quynh's like one, Andy would be able to somewhat understand and only slightly speak Vietnamese.... and sixteen-year-old Quynh would impress/terrify everyone by knowing several martial arts better than her teachers, speaking the languages of many foreign merchants and being able to sneak up to everybody! xD
I'm also interested in Andy's perspective: first she might have thought she can't have a soulmate bc she's immortal, or maybe she thinks she could have had one and would have never noticed bc didn't notice added skills....
Okk I'm drifting off, let's actually write something!
