Last song: This Too Shall Pass by OK Go

Last book: the last one I was reading? Or the last one I finished? The last one I was reading is Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett. The last one I finished was...oh, We All Want Impossible Things by Catherine Newman, which was fantastic, 10/10, I laughed and cried and laughed and cried, do recommend!

Last movie: We just saw the Pride & Prejudice 20th-anniversary theatrical re-release yesterday! We dragged our 14-year-old with us and she enjoyed it.

Last TV show: We just started a rewatch of The Expanse today, and I am in fact watching an episode right now. Also watching Dimension 20: Titan Takedown, which is SO FUN; the current season of Leverage Redemption; and rewatching D20: Fantasy High Sophomore Year with my kids (the younger of whom is watching for the first time).

Favorite color: sunflower yellow, turquoise, dark teal--and yeah, Sierra, pthalo green is a great choice!

Sweet, savory or spicy: it really depends on the day, but I love all three! I probably like savory and spicy stuff more than I used to.

Relationship status: happily married

Last thing Googled: Ilona Maher, because I showed my kids the gifset of her doing "Under Pressure" on Dancing with the Stars, and wanted to make sure I was right about her being a rugby player.

Current obsession: still Nancy Drew, though I have less of an outlet these days. The fandom has gotten pretty quiet. I enjoyed both The Pitt and The Residence a lot, but they're not taking up real estate in my brain. It's possible I'll get a little obsessed with the Murderbot TV show when it starts in May.

Looking forward to: our homeschool year has five weeks left, and I'm looking forward to summer break. Also, we're moving this summer and even though stuff is all up in the air--when exactly are we moving??? where exactly are we moving to??--I'm looking forward to it.

10 Things I Have Done That You Might Not Have Done - Meme

1) Been kissed by both Peter Cook and Dudley Moore (the latter had to jump up to do it) backstage at their show. I was a theater kid and worshiped Peter Cook. 2) Temporarily lost the use of my left leg in 2009--fell over like a felled tree.  The doorman had to come up, pull me into an armchair--and the only clothes I had on were a t-shirt and panties.  Not even nice panties. 3) Saw Paul McCartney in concert last year at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center 4) Saw Frank Sinatra at Carnegie Hall 5) Snorted cocaine and then cried for hours.  Twice. 6) Met Tim Gunn twice in 2010 and found out HE WAS A FAN OF MY COMIC FASHION BLOG!!!  And that he is an amazingly nice man. 7) Was the first person to turn in a murderer from contact on the Internet (he is now serving forty years). 8) Made the front page of the New York Times for same 9) Published two novels, now out of print 10) Was profiled in the New York Times Style section because of my alter-ego, The Mad Fashionista.

Top 10 fictional characters you admire

Interesting choice with the word “admire.”

1. Frodo Baggins. This essay pretty much describes why. I love both the book and movie interpretation of the character.2. Dana Scully. I have wanted to be her for the last 20 years. (I almost have her hair. Almost). I admire her integrity and tenacity. 3. Kurt Hummel. His story of having an unrequited crush season 1 endeared me to him forever. I admire his strength in adversity and his courage to stand up for himself and for others. I’m also adding Mercedes Jones because I really love this woman for not apologizing for who she is. 4. Anne Shirley. Another character that I wanted to be so badly. Megan Follow’s portrayal of her stubbornness and yet endless ability to love will always be my favorite, but I’m liking the new versions. 5. Juliet Burke. She quickly became one of my favorite characters on Lost. Just loved her complexity so much. 6. Donna Noble. While I love all of the women of the RTD era, Donna has such a special place in my heart. I admire her humanness and her many many flaws that she overcomes. 7. Anne Elliott. I relate way too much to her story. I admire her compassion to others who are not kind to her. 8. Sylvia Tilly. She’s quickly becoming one of my all time favorite Star Trek characters. I admire her compassion and strong-headedness and her brains and her stunning red hair. And let’s add Michael Burnham to the list. Because I admire her fortitude and her sense of rightness. 9. Chidi Anagonye. I admire his kindness and love for his friends that overcomes his anxiety. 10. Hermione Granger. Smart, know-it-all, sticks to the rules but bends for friendship and love. That’s my girl.
