Today is a special day, for those of you who play 10 Days With My Devil.
Today is Shiki's birthday!
This adorable devil is a huge comfort character of mine (well all of the 10DWMD characters are), and his personality, mixed with his looks and powers are a power combo.
Whether it be the purple eyes that draw you in, to the adorable love of collectible toys, to the many many feels he gives, he sticks in your heart whether you love him or he's just another character.
I remember when I was just starting this game. I played Meguru first and then Shiki. Though Meguru will always be my favorite, Shiki is someone I just cannot express my love for. Whenever I was sad, I played his route. It's just the truth and I never realized how much I liked him until I replayed all the stories I have of him on this very day.
The many headcanons I have for Sheeks are not nearly as much as my love for him. I'm sure many people who love Shiki feel the same way.
Happy birthday Shiki Kurobane. Though you do not exist, you exist in many hearts. I'd say that's good enough, don't you think?
i am huge on mc’s. i think the impact an mc has on a story’s enjoyability is so underestimated.
the level of intolerability an mc possesses can literally make or break a game for me and i’m really picky when it comes to mc’s. usually i don’t really relate with any of them, most of them annoy me, however there are some mc’s that i actually like. so here’s a list of my top five mc’s!
5. ERA OF SAMURAI: CODE OF LOVE
the mc of era of samurai: code of love is one of the few mc’s that actually goes through a bit of character development throughout the story.
from the very beginning, it’s obvious to readers that she’s a very intelligent, caring and dedicated girl. she literally thought herself medicine using only a few books and runs the only clinic in town all by herself, i mean, if that isn’t impressive, i don’t know what is. she’s also quite brave, protecting the weak from bad guys, confronting samurais with weapons, running into brawls to save the one she loves... the girl isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
however, she is a little whiny at times (her levels of whininess fluctuates between stories), and she’s definitely more introverted than average and although i don’t mind it too much, i understand how some could find it annoying, which is why she’s at the bottom of the list.
4. OUR PRIVATE HOMEROOM
the mc from our private homeroom is incredibly realistic, which is a good and a bad thing.
she’s funny, she’s sarcastic and she’s very diligent, traits you’d find in many if not most high school aged girls. her lines are very realistic (and incredibly funny/relatable) and it actually feels like a high schooler is talking, which is an impressive feat considering how notoriously hard adolescents are to write.
however, she also has negative traits which are commonly seen in teenage girls, she can be impulsive, forgetful, emotional and irrational at times. although the authors probably purposely gave her those traits, they still made me feel frustrated with her at times.
3. BE MY PRINCESS
next up is the mc from be my princess. god, who doesn’t love this mc? i mean just look at how edward is looking at her in the cg above! he’s totally in love with her and literally nobody blames him.
she’s the perfect mix of down to earth, sweet and badass. she’s kind to everyone but if someone crosses her boundaries she will call them out on it. she’s really patient without being a pushover, which i love. she’s also a total baddie, although she has this calm aura to her, the girl isn’t afraid to throw hands or stand up to the weak when it’s necessary. she’s just so realistic, i love her.
2. 10 DAYS WITH MY DEVIL
the mc from 10 days with my devil is so funny! she has such a cool and confident attitude, she just radiates baddie all around. she has a bit of sass to her which i adore, i find her so funny! additionally, she isn’t afraid to speak her piece, she’s pretty fearless and will call it like it is. if she wants something, she goes for it!
also, she doesn’t act overly innocent or prude, which i really like because it’s a theme you see a lot in voltage mc’s that i really don’t like. nothing against innocent girls, but sometimes they’re just too much. like some mc’s (who are in the mid twenties by the way) will be too sheepish to kiss their boyfriends, who’ve they’ve been with for like a month, like girl... girls are allowed to be confident and sexy too, y’a know?
oh and, the girl’s really street smart, which i admire a lot.
1. MASQUERADE KISS
i’m not kidding when i say that i read masquerade kiss exclusively for the mc. she’s amazing!
i’ll be honest with you, i’m not particularly attached to any of the masquerade kiss love interests, but the mc however...
she’s a total badass, i mean the girl is a spy and unlike the other working voltage mc’s, she’s actually incredible at her job. she’s intelligent, she’s strategic, she’s seductive, she’s got it all! she also confident and she has a little sass, which is truly the icing on the cake.
and despite that, she still comes off as really cool, down to earth, relatable even, which is incredible and honestly unexpected. when i began reading masquerade kiss, i didn’t expect her to be relatable because well... she’s a spy, but no! her actions and choices are very logical and some i would make too. plus, her commentary in situations? super relatable.
