Theirs this one thing thats been the back on my mind for a while now, and it’s about the princess room. Near the beginning of the movie during her crusade to make the girls miserable, Rowena had their changed room changed without their knowledge. The the beds were stripped of their colorful bedsheets and replace with bland grey colors. The beds were also moved from the back of the walls to the center right round the flower tiles. curiously, most ties to movie( books and a video) show the room unaffected and looked the same as the beginning of the movie( colorful bedsheets and the beds on the back of the walls) I think only the movie novel and a coloring book addressd it. Now the room was most likely reversed to the way it was before Rowena. And that brings me to a another thing.
The flower tiles. During the climax, Rowena had the tiles smashed to try and keep the girls from returning and stop her( She fails of course, due to the fact the girls find a another exit) After the movie, I wonder what was done with the smashed up tiles. Where they repaired but lost the ability to go into the magic world or were the tiles beyond damaged and had to be removed or covered up.
im curious about what others have to say. Whats your headcannon on the princess’ room after the movie. Or any fics that focus on the aftermath when the duchess is defeated but before the wedding.
Rewatched Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses with @t-rexsen0k and we've have had some thoughts.
Rowena's pet monkey is named Brutus. I'm overthinking this but it is interesting how Rowena's connection with the name Brutus symbolises her relationship and intentions with her cousin and the king. She tries to kill the king as Brutus assassinated Julius Caesar. Of course there is a difference between Brutus and Rowena's intentions in these actions, Rowena is merely interested in her own wellbeing and raise in status while Brutus at least said it was for the best of Rome.
Twig mentioned how this shot of Rowena standing in front of the queen's portrait is really cool, she's trying to take the place of the queen.
No one questions the fact that there is a magic portal in the princess' room. How did it get put there? Did their mother put it there? Was she the first dancing princess? What made Genevieve think doing the same thing as in the book would work, like the floor stones could just be decorations correlating to the books covers? I guess she could've just been trying for fun initially and then it did work, but she would've freaked out more when the stones glowed. Wouldn't she? And why were they wearing their dancing shoes before bedtime?
Derek cares about Genevieve (and her sisters) so much that he went out of his way to go after a random man and find out the truth of what Rowena was doing with him. Then he traded his horses, possibly his only horse that helps him with his business for a silver cup that belonged to the princess' mother. He knew the importance that object would hold to them and therefore it became that important to him too. It was also night time when this trading happened and he instantly decided to head back to the castle, walking and steering his carriage by himself, he got there the day after tomorrow. He then broke into the princess' room searching for Genevieve to tell her all this information and used the stones to go to the magic place where they were by remembering Genieve's dance exactly. He paid that much attention to her. Idk I just think he's really really sweet and I find it wholesome how he cares for all the girls specifically Genieve.
Twig mentioned the fact that the stones in the princess' bedroom instantly light up when you step on them in order, so have they never stepped on the first flower before. I know they wouldn't have been able to figure out the path until the triplets got their books, but would they have never noticed the first stone lighting up when they stepped on it? You know?
Genieve is actually so smart for just asking the flowers how to get out of the magic pavilion.
The way Derek looks at Genevie while they dance together is so romantic and I love them.
The fact that them dancing out of the magic pavilion led to their mother's pavilion heavily implies that their mother was the first dancing princess right?
