This past Softball Season(Posted July 19)
This past week, we hosted our end of the year party for the softball team that I coach. It was a time to reflect on this past season. I appreciate that all the players and families that were able to make it. I am so thankful to this group of players, coaches and parents. It sure was an honor to be able to coach this team.
To start the season we were not sure if we would even have a season. To start the season we have 6 players. So we were able to borrow 4-5 10u players each game. It was the same players. I was so happy with the love that the girls have for the game. Sure, we did not win a lot of games. The team that I had matured a lot this season and most importantly HAD FUN 😀
Ava had a very good season pitching and batting(she also hit her 1st 2 HRs in her career). I am proud of how she handled this year and stepped up to be the vocal leader on and off the field that the team needed.
I sure love these kids and watching them grow throughout the season. It is always sad that the season has to come to an end.

After almost a year of fundraising and preparation, the boys finally arrived in Cooperstown for the biggest tournament of the year, and boy did they come to play! The #CooperstownAllStarVillage tournament is a huge weeklong event that sees top level teams flying in from all around the country. This time there were teams from as far away as Texas and California. Players sleep on site in team bunkhouses and it’s a once in a lifetime experience as this is typically only open to 12u teams. Our Cadets played awesome and went 6-3 which was good enough to go 3 rounds deep into the championship bracket (equivalent of like the “sweet 16”) and finish 14th overall out of a field of almost 60 highly competitive and talented teams from around the country! They ended up being eliminated by the eventual 2nd place team in a very tight game that could easily have gone either way. Nice win today for the #12u #Cadets in their first game.. Stevie got the start and pitched great to earn the W (4.0 IP, 0 ER, 5 Ks, 3 Hits) and helped himself at the plate by going 2/2 with a walk and 3 runs scored. The boys all played great in their big tournament this week down in #Aberdeen :) They went 2-0 the first day to earn the 3-seed but came up short on the last day. All in all it was a great experience though and they played really well against strong competition.
