So Charlie walks in today and says his pitching coach thinks he’s throwing five miles an hour harder already. Yes it’s anecdotal.......well not even, it’s just talk. At this point I’ll take it. It’s something to build on. Today we crushed Charlie’s legs, his drive leg to be specific. We broke out an old school ab drill. We used to call this THE AB WHEEL OF DEATH 💀 during spring training. At @smartensetraining it’s nameless so far. It still works great 👍🏾 though. Charlie keep it my dude. ⚾️🏋️‍♀️🔥💥☄️. ☝️ more thing. I received a question from a IG follower. So I decided to hit up a guy that knows a things or two about throwing 90+. Heath”Heater” 🛎. One of most dominant closers in the game from 2009-2011. Heath will talk throwing 90+. 5 Star NE Black 14U Rallies, Rolls, and Battles to the End

5 Star NE Black 14U participated in MSI's 14U Smash & Bash Tournament April 12-13th. It was a weekend of grit, firepower, and standout performances for 5 Star NE Black 14U, who picked up two big wins and narrowly dropped a third in extra innings.

Saturday Game 1: 5 Star NE Black 14U Rallies Past Broomall Tigers, 9–5

After falling behind 4–0 early, 5 Star stormed back with a seven-run second inning, highlighted by Gil O’nell’s clutch three-run double. They added insurance in the third on a wild pitch and held on as the Tigers tried to claw back.

Marcus Morrison earned the win (3 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 4 ER).

Carter Stute closed it out with a scoreless inning.

O’nell led the offense with 3 RBIs; Ethan Snyder, Billy McCormick, and Jack Haeussler also chipped in hits.

The team showed patience at the plate with seven walks and six stolen bases.

Saturday Game 2: 5 Star Blasts Mid Atlantic Crew, 13–3

Fueled by another seven-run first inning, 5 Star rolled to a dominant win over Mid Atlantic Crew. Tommy Lynch drove in two with a first-inning double, and Carter Stute had a day to remember.

Stute went 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs, including a triple and single.

He also earned the win on the mound (2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER).

5 Star added five more runs in the fourth, featuring doubles from Romano and Lawrence.

The team drew nine walks, stole nine bases, and turned a key double play.

Ethan Snyder led with 4 stolen bases, while Gil O’nell and Haeussler drew 2 walks apiece.

Sunday: Wellen’s Big Day Not Enough in 8–7 Extra-Inning Loss

Despite Joshua Wellen’s 3-for-4 performance, 5 Star fell in extras to Broomall Tigers in a back-and-forth thriller.

Wellen singled in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, leading a 9-hit effort.

5 Star led 3–1 by the third inning but saw the game tied in the sixth.

Ethan Snyder struck out 7 over 5 IP; Tommy Lynch took the loss despite allowing just 1 unearned run.

Marcus Morrison drove in two, while Stute and Romano each had multiple steals.

The team stole 8 bases and turned another double play.

Looking Ahead

Though it ended in a loss, Sunday’s game showed the fight and depth of this 5 Star NE Black 14U roster. With contributions from every part of the lineup and strong outings on the mound, the team continues to demonstrate they have all the pieces—they just fell one bounce short this time. 5 Star NE Black 14U next tournament is USABL Gold Glove April 26-27th.
