This curtain call is the last. Carlos breathes out, closing his eyes to the sound of the audience, the blood rushing to his head as the cast clasps hands and falls forward into a bow. He can feel the hesitance all around him, a grating unwillingness to come back up and face an audience for the last time as their characters, as the cast of this show. But Carlos is in the middle. It is his responsibility to straighten up and end this.

Carlos waits. Charles keeps him company.

The next one minute of Carlos' life plays out like this: he takes the picture held out for him, a glossy print of a van and two men inside it, and examines it, like he hasn't seen it multiple times by now.

Wrote a little something based on Carlos' interview with People, about that "my.... ex teammate" moment because i could not get it out my head🙂‍↔️
