COMETS
i am ageless and i am wild. i reach into the very heavens and pluck stars from their constellations and string them through my hair. stretching back, stretching, i fling cold, cold ice and watch it orbit suns. colour flares up in the universe as sunlight catches the crystals. your blue sky has a streak of my wild, a streak of my cold out of all the emptiness i harbor and seek out...because i am vast. i am chaos. i am energy trying to get as far from its origin as possible. i am timeless but i will die, when everything is cold--cold like comets--and there will be no final flare. there will be no last hurrah, just the infinite kind of deep sorrow that signals there is really nothing left. nobody will be left to mourn me. the universe will drift apart and matter will scatter into endlessness. i am chaos. i am gamma radiation and twenty thousand shades of blinding light. i am black holes. i am vast vortexes of wind to a blade of grass. i am the tsunami to a drop of water. i am the tidal wave that crashes itself into oblivion. i am the oblivion. and when we go back to the stars, i am shining and i am empty. i am aeons of dust and dark and life and light.
