2026 Reverse Asks.

[How would your character react if someone] asked them to perform in front of an audience, like right now, without prep?

With enormous gusto and enthusiasm...

Mimble is a natural-born performer and quite enjoys showing off for an audience. Whether it's his dance moves, his magical abilities, or his ability to tell bad jokes and tall stories, he can command a crowd with ease.

Sometimes this is in pursuit of higher aims - he is particularly good at bringing a smile to the faces of even the most traumatised of children for example - and he is often able to use his wit and humour to bridge the distance between disparate groups and individuals... but it would be untrue to say that he doesn't enjoy an excuse to give a performance simply for the sake of showing off once in a while...

Eeeee it's day one of @diggingforkuponuts's Reverse Asks! (And a happy early nameday to Flower ❀˖°!)

Between June 15th through July 6th, I'm asking anyone who wants to participate to take any ask games and reverse them! Just choose from any ask games or ask lists you like, pick a question or several and answer about your own wol/oc(s)!

Very excited about this fun idea, especially since the anxiety bunnies usually stop me from sharing ask lists. ;-; But the questions posed often help me find gaps aplenty in my understanding of my own characters, so I'm looking forward to answering some from the initial collection of lists over the next few weeks.

11. Their stance on throw pillows?

Aeryn's stance is very much yes, but they aren't for decorative use. I go on about her sleeping habits more -> here <-, but the gist of it is she tends to "burrow" her way into spaces where she's less likely to be seen. Having lots of pillows, blankets, and cushions allows her to carve a little space out for herself in which to feel cozy and safe. And because she, for a very long while, is more likely to succumb to sleep just about anywhere other than in an actual bed, she'd have several piles of mismatched pillows scattered around her space (or any space she visits with enough frequency that she might often sleep there). The Scions just get used to leaving (or sometimes adding to) the plush things she's unintentionally gathered in dim corners of their various bases of operation.

Kitoto also loves a good decorative pillow—or more often a plush to be used as a decorative pillow—and has bunches of them scattered around the floor around her bed. She tends to grab for one or two of them to cuddle in her sleep, leaving the others as clutter on the floor. In the rare cases when she tidies up her sleep space, they all get thrown into one chaotic mess on the bed... specifically so she can later have the joy of doing a running leap to dive into them, after which she kicks them all back on the floor so she has room to sleep. :D

Hot Seat Interviews: Reverse Ask Day 3

I’ve renamed my reverse ask posts to reflect the vibe of a tell-all interview transcript. Based on the question, there may be different people in the hot seat. Anyway, sit back, relax, and enjoy!

RNG: list 12, question 37 from Reverse Asks

Interviewer: What is the most common feeling or emotion in your life?

Xeranthea: Anxiety. 'Tis a shame, truly, that the path of my life has been fraught with naught else.

Interviewer: Why is that?

Xeranthea: I was never afforded capacity to feel aught else. Outsiders as we were, ingratiating myself socially was nigh impossible. As a youngling, I had not the word to describe the lonely, desperate feeling, but hindsight engenders clarity and wisdom.

Interviewer: Would you say you carried that anxiety with you into your later life?

Xeranthea: Undoubtedly. Discovering I was with child in the aftermath of my town's destruction, wouldn't one call it the perfect garden for the deep seeded anxiety of my childhood to bloom in profusion?

Midori: I'm so sorry you've had to feel that for so long, Xeranthea. *reaches out to grasp Xeranthea's hand.*

Xeranthea: Thank you, dear. *smiles sadly at the growing bump under her dress.*

Interviewer: And what is your answer, Midori?

Midori: Oh. Uhm... I'll say... determination.

Interviewer: As one would expect of the Warrior of Light.

Midori: *shrugs nonchalantly.* My motives fueling that determination throughout my life have varied and evolved, but I've always felt a strong determination to see my goals through. Whether that was protecting my brothers, crafting the perfect high-quality expert recipe, or knocking the teeth out of the greatest nuisance of my life at the end of the universe.

Xeranthea: I'd very much like to hear the story of that last one!

Midori: *waves dismissively* Oh, there is naught to tell... Only that I won. Though the evanescent and ebullient satisfaction in the aftermath of my triumph was intoxicating. *smirks* That, I cannot deny.

Poor Xeranthea is a little ball of anxiety (but for very good reason). Honestly, I didn't know Midori was such a battle high junkie... or maybe that's just around him. LOL.

Reverse Asks Day 2

RNG: list 4, question 24 from Reverse Asks.

Interviewer: Is silence used as protection or punishment?

(Midori sits on the couch, flanked on either side by her brothers Aka and Kuro)

Midori: Protection, absolutely.

Aka: *nods stoically*

Kuro: What? It was definitely a punishment! You put too much pressure on yourself to protect us, Dori!

Midori: *blushes at the nickname* I'm the oldest. It is my duty to protect you!

Kuro: Mayhap that was true when we were smaller than you, but Aka and I can protect ourselves.

Midori: *turns to give Kuro the auri girl dead-eye stare.*

Kuro: Look at that face and tell me I'm not being punished! *look over Midori's head at Aka in desperate consensus*

Aka: Kuro...

Midori: *quirks an eyebrow.*

Aka: Kuro... tread carefully...

Midori: *exhales patiently.* (addressing the interviewer) My brothers are not combat-trained. Aka's trade is fishing, and Kuro's is mining. Despite the twins being younger, they are fiercely protective of me. However, since becoming a prominent Scion, I have kept them well in the dark about my travails out of necessity. I should perish at the thought of them being used against me in some way. I rarely speak to them or of them to others, but it does not mean I do not love them with every fiber of my being.

Aka: Thank you, Dori. We love you too. *wraps his tail around her waist.*

Kuro: Fine, when you put it that way...

Midori: *reaches up and ruffles Kuro's hair.*

Midori's silence is definitely a punishment when Kuro brings her a single earth crystal. Don't you just love sibling dynamics? I wonder who will be in the hot seat tomorrow!

Reverse Asks Day 1

Hello! I've never done an ask game before, so I have literally no clue what to do with a reverse ask game! queue nervous shaking. But if it really is as simple as letting my OC/WOLs yap, well I can certainly arrange that.

Random number generator gave me list 9, question 58 from the @diggingforkuponuts's post. So... uh... here goes!

Interviewer: Do you have strong feelings about musical theater?

Midori: taps her knuckles against her chin thoughtfully. As a former Bard and current Dancer, I believe I would enjoy musical theater though I've never had the opportunity to participate in a production of any sort. Mih Kheto's puts on shows when they aren't hosting seasonal events. I've been lucky to catch a show or two while passing through Gridania. The Majestic Theater Company plans to tour again, I believe? Mayhap, I'll see if I can catch one of their performances! Stares wistfully off in the distance. Anyroad, being a Scion means that I can't adhere to a tight rehearsal schedule. Even with teleportation, I can't say when I will be engaged in combat, diplomacy, or crafting and gathering. Mayhap when I retire... Scoffs under her breath before smiling softly. One day, when I am no longer needed, I'll take up musical theater. Nods stoically.

Xeranthea: No. Breathes out a measured exhale. I apologize, t'was a touch blunt, was it not? Pardon me, t'is only that memories long buried surface when I imagine dancing and singing. Hesitates before continuing in quiet reminiscence. My parents were itinerant entertainers before settling into innkeeping when I was nearly a school-age youngling. Masters of their craft, they were as Apollo and Terpsichore. Mayhap, in their own way, they were a musical theater duo. A faint, sad smile tugs at the corner of her lips. Tragically, they perished when Lindblum's army razed my hometown. Regretfully, I haven't occasion nor desire to sing or dance as I once did at my parents' side. Rubs the swell of her belly. Mayhap that will change one day.

Ahhh... the rest for the Warrior of Light never comes, eh? Poor Xeranthea, she's been through a lot... We'll see what tomorrow's question unearths!
