2026 First Reverse Asks

Flower's (unofficial) name day is July 1st! This will be the first one (Whoooo yaaay!) So I wanted to do something special, not only for me and him but for anyone who wants to talk about their wol/oc. When I asked about interest in this project people seemed excited!

Starting off @diggingforkuponuts’s Reverse Asks with a light, silly one from this list!

How much money would they waste trying to get a cool prize at a claw machine game?

Altun is too tenacious and stubborn to let her prize elude her grasp. Once she sets eyes on her mark, there are only two possible outcomes. Either she ensnares her quarry or she spends every last gil she has in the attempt! It's only money after all.

As for Lulu…

Rather than waste gil she'd rather just remove the middle man and take matters into her own hands!

2026 First Reverse Asks

What's their morning routine? Do they have a long ritual or do they just roll out of bed and call it good? (From this Ask List by @diggingforkuponuts)

Whilst it's more of a late morning (or even lunchtime) routine, Mimble is quite fastidious about his ablutions and preparations - a gentleman cannot be rushed after all.

He will wash himself carefully, before applying various ungents and colognes. Naturally Mimble claims to use these merely for their pleasing smell and protection from the rays of the sun, but it is widely suspected that they have other, more esoteric, qualities.

His clothes will be brushed and his shirtfront pressed, although not by hand of course - Mimble is not one for manual labour if magic will do the job - and his necktie or cravat arranged just so.

These are just the things before breakfast. Breakfast itself is a ritual all its own...

Humble tends to roll out of bed, splash his face with cold water and then he's good to go. He will try to run a small bone comb through his beard and check his armour for any damage or wear that he may have missed the day before, but otherwise he doesn't have much of a routine.

Another one for Reverse Asks! This time filched from mimble-sparklepudding's Herbal OC Questions.

Rosemary - Memory, Mental Acuity and Recollection of Information.

1. What is your OC's earliest memory? Is it one they would sooner forget or do they recall it with fondness? Do they genuinely remember it? Or have they just been told about it so often by their family or community that they can picture it clearly?

For Aeryn, this changes over the ARR -> EW journey. For a long time, her earliest memory is the game's opening sequence: hearing Hydaelyn's voice, then waking up in the Shroud before Bremondt's cart passes by and offers her a lift.

She has zero memories of her past until StB, when swimming in the Ruby Sea triggers a disorienting series of memory fragments to flash through her mind. Most of them swiftly fade (like waking up from a dream and promptly forgetting all the details); but one that stays with her is being aboard a ship during a terrible storm.

In ShB, during the climactic battle, she ends up with an extended look at that memory via the Echo, during which she both sees and relives the last moments of her life and the death of her star, courtesy of Emet-Selch's having been there. That then becomes her "earliest" memory... albeit arguably, since the memory is both hers and not hers?

It's a violent, horrible memory to have; but it's also cathartic for her to have anything at all when, by that point in the story, she thought her past fully lost to her. It's the catalyst that pushes her to finally, finally let go of the notion that her identity is tied to her missing past (a major turning point in her arc). After so long having nothing at all, I don't think she'd want to forget, in spite of it being so brutal to recollect.

(I sometimes waffle over whether Aeryn will ever remember more. My gut instinct is, though she might make certain inferences based on experiences in Endwalker, she'll never actually regain other memories. It's important to me that the culmination of her journey is releasing the need for her unknown past so she can choose, instead, a future she makes for herself, as herself. Regaining more of her past feels counterproductive to that end, I think... though I reserve the right to change my mind! :D)

Reverse Ask Day 2

Has your OC mellowed as they have got older? Or are they just as quick to anger, or as easily irritated, as they ever were?

Yes. Xynal would say he hasn't changed, but yes, he's mellowed out a lot. He was much more quick to anger in his younger years. These days it takes quite a bit for Xynal to lose his temper. But when he does, he's just as volatile as he ever was.

You'll have an idea he's angry with you when he sounds frosty, clipped and stands rather still. This tends to mean he's keeping himself from saying something he shouldn't. He may still snark in this stage though, depending upon who it is.

Someone shows your character a photograph of themselves when they were five. How do they react? What is the picture like?

She would likely most determinedly tell herself that it’s inconsequential; that that girl does not exist anymore and she has no desire to know anything about her. And it would be mostly true, but largely out of self-preservation. The picture would be of a girl with dark, cropped hair, smiling a smile that screams a little too loudly that she’s trying to please.

When your character has nightmares, which emotion is the most present?

The feeling of being trapped. It isn’t fear, exactly, but a deep sense of dread and surrender to the inevitable. A burning and suffocating. Her nightmares tend to focus on rememberings of what she cannot change or what she could not prevent, often in loops, and while she’s never quite aware enough to know this, her sleeping mind seems to understand very well that there’s no imagining kinder endings. She dreams a lot about the Light and nearly turning, and really does fight to keep those happenings to herself because it sends both her and Hades into dark spirals of more than one sort.

If your character had to get a (new) tattoo right now, what would it be?

She has an aetheric tattoo of Azem’s summoning spell hidden beneath her wedding ring, and I think she’d probably try to get some of the scarring that runs from the back of her neck and down her back tangled up with a chain of stars in the same champagne-gold colour. It’s something either of her husbands could probably do if she asked them, but it also falls under the ‘this is vanity and therefore frivolous’ mindset that she tends to have about her body. I think Hythlodaeus would likely be very glad to do it for her, if she ever manages to ask.

What is the most expensive outfit your OC has ever worn? A finely crafted suit of armour? An extravagant ballgown? Their wedding dress or suit? Did they borrow or rent it? Or did they purchase (or even steal) it themselves?

Ajax: Probably her coat. Its a coat integrating carbon fibers and aetheric lattice, using ancient allagan skills. While impressive, its ability to support high battle damage, offer as good a protection as actual ligh armor, and regulate heat and aetheric disturbance to its wearer make it a one in the kind cloack.

Raven: Probably his armour? The current one has been partially designed with Ajax help, and involve ridiculous aetheric tempering only possible because people like Ajax was around, and advanced Allagan technique. The material cost alone was impressive, and he is lucky to not have to pay any of the labour needed since the Ajax realized it.

What kind of clothing does your OC wear in cold weather or frozen climates? Do they already have such items in their wardrobe? Or do they need to purchase or otherwise obtain them when the need arises?

Ajax: Ajax is a lizard in spirit if not in body. She is always cold. If she stop moving? You can be sure she's cold (quite like me in this matters)

As such, she is well equiped, leather and furred boot to trudge through the snow, and thermal undershirt. She also possess a hooded long cloack, wich has a furred collar and hood.

Raven: Raven came from the fanged Crescent. Having grown atop the mountian, he is well used to the cold.

He posess a thick scraf, that get wrapped around his lower face to protect nose and mouth from the cold. If he is nto expecting heavy battle, he simply wore his homeland clothing, which is a wrap around all his torso, furred boots and tied sleeves, decorated with feather. If he expect Heavy fighting, he ditch the sleeves, instead putting on a bozja tank coat.

When it comes to combat or other physical activities, does your OC favour heavy armour? Or do they prefer something lighter which facilitates greater mobility at the expense of protection? Or do they have another priority entirely, such as clothing which assists them in channelling aether or magical abilities?

Raven: He act mainly as tank, but prefer medium armor to heavy one. He generally stop at greaves, vambraces and plastron, with the occasionnaly pauldron, or layered pauldron.

Having been raised around Falcon, for all he took the job of front line, his origian lweapon were still the bow and the lance, and thus he has a preference for mobility.

Ajax: Being the magic in teh equation, seh favor mobility. She still wear reinforced coat, and have greaves and vambraces, just in case.

Does your OC favour bright, or even clashing, colours? Or do they prefer a more subdued wardrobe? Are they perhaps even keen to keep things strictly monochrome as far as possible?

Raven: He prefer base ocher tone, or black. No vivid color as base. Enjoy clothes with like. A embroided motif or printed one.

Ajax: She prefer dark color. Lot of monocromatic base, with a spot of color, like a red shirt, or gold embroidery and purple accent.

Is your OC particularly sensitive to the texture or feeling of certain fabrics or items of clothing? Do they struggle with scratchy wool or coarse linens? Do they hate overly tight clothing or items with too many buckles or laces?

Raven: Nop. No problem. Can basiclaly wear anything and everything.

Ajax: Lot of problem. Problem with wool, too itchy, has to wear it over something else. Absolutely hate the sensation of silk. Find it beautiful, cannot stand touching it. Do not like lace. Cannot stnad dress or skirt. Its pants or pants. Don' t like too flowy clothes. Like buckles and strap on her clothes, as long they make sense. So buckles to tighten pants or sleeves? Good. Buckels so you cna strap pack? good. otherwise get it out of here.

What is an outfit or style of clothing that your OC admires on others, but would never attempt to wear themselves?

Ajax: Dress. She really like medieval women dress. Kinda wish she could make one, because like. The velvet and all loof fun to work with. But couldn't wear it (Same, same)

Raven: Surprisingly, like the heavy bozja and garelamaldien heavy layers, but would feel too restricted in it.

How does your OC feel about hats and headgear in general? Are such items something that they might only wear for special occasions? Or do they like to have a hat or crown on at all times in order to advertise their wealth or status?

Raven: Hat is stupid. man come from a culture centered around flying on big Falcon. Also. No ears, no need to protect them from cold. Can understand the helmet, but too much of a pain to get one around the horns, and it limit his sight field. Can enjoy a good visor or eyes protection.

Ajax: hat is stupid. Kepe fucking falling, or flying off. Helmet is stupid if your not frontline, her allagan coat houd is reiforced enough to take the hit. She odes enjoy allagan visor, that can serve as an HUD to keep track of battle, like her summon, spell, or support thing.

Does your OC maintain their own clothing and armour? Are they capable at darning, patching and mending? Or do they prefer to delegate such things to others?

Raven: He know how to mend basic gear, can do a patch job on armor, can mend a tear and take care of his leather and fur. But for big repair or damages, they still need to rely on others. especially since his armor is now such a specialized one. Ajax: Can patch a tear or a hole in clothing, can do a quickpatch job on an armor, know how to maintain a leather(grease, hydration, etc...), but absolutly useless at working it or repairing damges to it.

Is your OC critical - or even snide - about the fashion choices of other people? Do they look down on those who wear outfits which are too revealing? Or too buttoned-up? Or too colourful? Or simply rather cheap-looking?

Raven: Somewhat confused by other fashion choice. They don't care per say, for those too revealing outfit or too buttoned up, but they do tend to instictively look down on clothes that are too fancy/showy/colorful because. Lot of money, probably depend of others to take care of it.

Ajax: She do take note of others clothing.

She is annoyed at people that are immodest in an immodest choice. Like. Somewhat being bare chested while working? Sure. But skimpy outfit just to show off? For fuck sake, I don't need to see that. (Asexual, ahoyyy....)

Those too colorful get catalogued as: trying to get attention which. If you need your clothes to get attention, either its your job (peformers, dancer, circus...) or you have nothing else to propose.

Those that are cheap looking, she categorize, because either they are the real deal... or they are infiltrated. Because cheap clothing is teh thing people on power or well off tend to wilfully ignore. Buttonned up.... Depend if they are competent but strict, or the holier than thou or the rich I'm better than everyone els.

For all three Aubemarles still living. They didn't identify themselves for the answers, and they would only stay for ten from that lovely list.

1. What's the lie your character says most often? "I'm alright."

2. How loosely or strictly do they use the word 'friend'? All are friends - some are just closer than others. Some hold more secrets than others. And some can hold their heart while others hold their drinks. But all are friends.

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing? Honestly, sometimes even I as their writer don't have any idea. I was misled for 6 months once, more fool me. So... not often, to anyone at all.

8. How loose is their use of the phrase ‘I love you’? Tightly kept, tucked away behind the ribcage. They are dangerous words, and must be saved for occasions where it counts. Those who have the ears for it though can hear them in the heartbeats, both the regular and the skipped.

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive? Gentle, but it may not be warm. An ice cube is delicate, and cannot pierce skin, but you jump when it makes contact. They prefer true love - truth in the telling, tact in the form if it can be managed.

28. What do they tell people they want? What do they actually want? Nothing; the future. Nothing; the past. Nothing; the present.

33. How do they greet someone they dislike / hate? "Good morning."

34. How do they greet someone they like / love? "Good morning." (ba-thump ba-thump ba- ba-thump)

51. What’s a phrase they say a lot? "Have a care."

53. Who would / do they believe without question? Each other. Even if they told lies, they are sure there is good reason. And if there are no good reasons, the other will come up with reasons good enough for them.
