Poem: 2319
The radio cut to a static hum, leaving Mariah mid-note in the heat. Pastel wool pulled over a sundress, pacing the ground where the pine meet— a breakdown on a road meant for leaving, where the fuel ran out like a secret.
Then the growl of a different engine, disturbing the quiet of the trees. He didn’t wear the helmet for the wind, letting the punk rock cassettes freeze the moment he caught her reflection— a stranger turning back on a whim.
“Don’t worry, I’m not a ghost story,” he joked through a smudge of oil and dirt. She crossed her arms against the doubt, ignoring the heat and the sudden spurt of a broken line beneath the chassis, while the sun began its heavy sink.
An expired name left on the dashboard, a small collateral for a leap of faith. She sat sideways, gripping his jacket chasing the blur of a roadside wraith as the bike cut through the cooling air, straight toward the town and the trouble.
The porch light was already burning, a father’s silhouette sharp and stern. The music stopped for a lecture, for all the lessons she had yet to learn about boys on bikes and quiet camps, and the safety of a locked front door.
But he just laughed and kicked the stand, Pointing a hand to the house next door “See you around, neighbour”, he called, leaving her breathless on the porch floor— with a useless license in a stalled-out car and a summer that had only just begun.

Wrapped up chapter 3 of the fic I'm working on and went to put the word count at the top of it. I had 2,317. So, of course, I went in and added two more words.

Oh how false and misinformed the monsters have been for over 6 centuries. Of course over time, information and documentation gets switched around by different outlets and opinions, but the monsters were never in any line danger. ☀️
Unfortunately for an early colony of monsters, in a time where medical advancements had not been discovered, sadly caught the wave of the Black illness in Europe from just a ‘regular’ scare, in 1350. Their record inadvertently kicked off the biggest fabrication in Monster History! 💀🚫
A few years ago (2019), a friend of mine became mildly sad over the thought that in 300 years, nobody would get the reference of Monsters Inc. 2319.
I was able to console them with the reminder that 250 years ago in Boston, Massachusetts, there was a very large tea party that is still joked about today and that he should never underestimate the power of memes
Showing full concepts and art of the new 2319! This guy sure has had quite a lot of changes..
