You should think I would have learned about the general public's capacity for favouring the absolute stupidest choices after years of watching reality TV ... And yet...

Do people really just want a hundred cheap, bland animated series instead of real television?

Things I have learned this day:

- when asbestos removal comes for your ceiling that whole ass ceiling is going.

- what my loft looks like from the bottom

- that parking space outside MIL's house is actually pay-at-meter not permit holders'

- there are very dedicated traffic wardens in this area

- that guy at work who never lets me talk in meetings still does not let me talk in meetings

- buprorion is not available on the NHS but they could have tested me for vitamin d and iron deficiency at any point in the last 8 years but they just...didn't bother

I feel bad that my mum is getting the most tired overstimulated version of me for her Christmas day. But also

Dad telling a story I do not care about but which I must focus on or he will be offended

This is a ranty post about a viral post and the concept of old people's care...

I'm not trying to start beef, especially as the original post is making a very valid point but oh my God this thing grates on me...

Do you understand how residential care works? Do you understand that it costs 2 x the salary of an experienced, privileged professional every month? Do you understand that NO ONE is putting grandma in a "beige box" because they're not a big fan of her Scrabble tactics?

The "locked in a beige box" grannies would not be fucking HELPING with anything if they were living with family. They would be yet another unbelievably difficult thing for middle aged women, already doing EVERYTHING for EVERYONE to look after.
