I started playing 33 Immortals and I'm really enjoying it because I love games where it encourages you to play and socialise with other players (in this case the game is literally impossible to solo) but, forbids text or voice chat. I think it takes a lot of stress out of socialising in games for me as it's very hard to be toxic and the inherent clunk makes any misunderstandings totally normal. Also I find how individual social norm and communities form inside these games to be extremely fascinating. It's like Squid parties in splatoon, or the old crouch technique in Minecraft. These non-ligustic communications are so fun!!!! I got adopted by some higher level players and we had fun emoting and they showed me how to unlock some of the secret stuff :]
omg you're the art director for 33 immortals?? i'm totally hooked on that game!! y'all did such a wonderful job on it, i love the gameplay and the art style and the MUSIC!!!! that pipe organ piece that plays when you get near the gate? magnifique 😙👌
Yesssss it's me! I'm glad you like the game <3 stay tuned for more updates and fun things coming in the future. The music is SO GOOD, I never get tired of it, and it's on Spotify too. Huge props to Max LL for delivering killer soundtracks as always.
Just one of the many souls in the Dark Woods.

The Triple-i Initiative Round-up
What’s a "Triple-i Initiative"? What sorts of games get announced at one of them? Rougelikes, apparently. Here’s a rundown of what was shown at the first Triple-i Showcase. Read the full article
I've really enjoyed 33 Immortals throughout early playtesting and the early access and I really wanted to make something for it! I had the opportunity to make some glitter shaker keychains and I felt it'd fit perfectly.

My 33 Immortals headcanons for "Rebellious Souls"
Souls in the rebellion do not remember who they were in life. Some retain a few fuzzy memories often muscle memory and gut feelings stay for a lot of souls, but that isn't the same as personality/memories.
The souls are all mute but can hear just fine. Most will use body language and some have invented some simple sign language. A handful are using writing. But that usually stays in the Dark Woods, as it takes time and space (something that is lacked on the battlefield).
Major slices (spots where the form doesn't hold together well, in game this is only the torso) in the form are where the souls had major/life ending injuries in life. The skull/mask can also reflect this but not all the time.
There's a lot of mixed origins of the souls, which may affect how they feel about the Dark Woods/Rebellion (this relies on the headcanon.)
The feats/dailies are a thing.
Feats- that is still the method of ascending and gaining rewards.
Dailies- a way of amusing the souls and giving them enrichment.
Weapons may take differing shapes depending on the users, these are not based on weapon upgrades cause those are still a thing. The stronger (mentally or physically) the soul, the more obvious this is. For an example: Greed/Hops
Daggers are angular and short with wicked sharp edge. Blades have small channels in the metal.
Sword is much lighter weight and again shorter then average, good for for redirecting hits but awful at blocking.
Bow is of a lighter weight material for an easier draw and arrows are very dim.
Staff has tangled branches and thorns all over.
