I'm so glad I did this race, even though it's 11pm now and I'm still a bit cold. I knew I wanted to run the race but decided to do on site last minute sign up so I could pick the distance last minute. In the end I went for the 4 miles (+400 meters) in preparation of my 4 mile race 2 weeks from now.
The first 400 meters or so was fine, but then I took a corner and was on the open road with strong wind against me, didn't realise just how bad the wind was, and promptly blew myself up in the first 1.5km. Another turn led me to the part with the wind in my back but the damage was done and I was just pushing to finish by running 300 meters and then walking 150.
Around 2.5km in I hit the water/snack point and made the fatal mistake of taking some salty crackers after my water and then nearly choking on them. But oh well I was still pushing on. By this time I was well and truly last in the race and had lost visual contact with the person ahead of me. Still just working my ass off, trying to get in before the very dark clouds were going to bring rain, or worse thunder when I was running in the middle of some fields with no protection or shelter.
That all went well until about 4.5km in when the rain started, not a drizzle but a downpour so badly I was soaked within a minute. But I'm in the middle of nowhere even though I'm almost there, so there's no quitting this. Then I turn another corner and the wind starts hitting me in the face with rain and small hail mixed in at that point.
So that's how I finished my race looking like a cat who accidentally fell into a bath. Finish pic to follow when they get uploaded!
Also my Garmin is so lost on my heart rate, this is so not representative. Or it is and my tachycardia is now only there half the time (last Monday the monitor worked as I expect, but Tuesday to now it was way off).

Life's about balance.
My morning run was magical. I didnโt have a set route like I normally do, so I just ran aimlessly and discovered the beauty around my neighborhood. And there was a constant light mist which breathed life in me the whole way.
Walk about 4 miles, trying running for a bit but that didnโt last long and now Iโm tired
06-26-17 4 miles this morning ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฎ๐ผ It was actually chilly and I had goosebumps the first half mile of my run. It was a good run. Half a mile from the finish, my left hamstring started hurting and I had to push for it. My legs were more tired today and it was early so they weren't quite awake so this run didn't ebb and flow the same way as my 7 miler on Saturday did, I had to fight against my legs a little bit and encourage them to keep going. Such a good run, I'm truly blessed to be able to run everyday. โค
