The 2025 quad lutz
does anyone else miss misha kolyada's beautiful quad lutz every single second of every day, or is it just me.
it's just... perfect on every level. textbook technique. effortless. the sheer height. the delay in rotation.
upon very careful thought and reflection I have come to the conclusion that hanyu yuzuru’s 4lz needs to be called ‘lutzuru’
Yuzuru's 4Lz and the Spidey Sense
From the title, this is a shower thoughts style post so please don't take it too seriously. Also I will be spoiling Infinity War, Endgame, and Far From Home (although they all came out a while ago, but it's better to have the warning). But I noticed that there's a somewhat similar arc between Yuzuru's 4Lz and Peter Parker's Spidey Sense
First use
The first time we saw Yuzuru's 4Lz in competition was at the 2017 Rostelecom Cup in the free skate. This was the first and only time it was performed in competition during the 2017-18 season. The first time (on screen) we see Peter Parker's Spidey Sense is at the start of Infinity War when we see the spaceship arriving in New York and he asks Ned to create a distraction so he can go and help Tony. We don't see it used again on screen for the rest of the film. With me so far?
The disaster and the fear
The practice session of the 2017 NHK trophy happened and we know what happened because of the 4Lz. In Infinity War, because he followed Tony after using his Spidey Sense, Peter ended up snapped and dusted. (Is that the right word? Idk)
The important parallel here isn't that something bad happened because of using the 4Lz/Spidey Sense. It's that, after something bad happened from using it, there was a strong rejection or fear of using it again. Yuzuru didn't include any lutz jumps at all in the 2018-19 season, and the first part of Far From Home focuses on Peter's inability to use the Spidey Sense. The film touches on it in a pretty jokey way but, considering that the last time he used it he ended up snapped and then blipped, it is likely that something subconsciously in Peter rejects the Spidey Sense and doesn't trust it anymore
The "redemption"
At the end of FFH, we see Peter completely relying on the Spidey Sense to help him take down Mysterio and he succeeds. At the Grand Prix Final 2019, Yuzuru brought back the 4Lz and also succeeded; he did his first 5 quad program and got +3.94 GOE on his 4Lz (although Judge 3 at the event needs to get their eyes checked given their GOE and PCS, but that's a discussion for another day). Yuzuru conquered the 4Lz to the point where he felt comfortable enough to use it at 4CC, and not include the more stable 4Lo, to get the last title to complete the Super Slam. Both of them overcame their experiences that made using the 4Lz/Spidey Sense difficult and are stronger because of it
Thank you for reading my silly ramble! I hope you liked it! Please lemme know what you think. Hope you're having a lovely day

Welcome back quad Lutz!
Just had a flashback of GPF and the tension after that beautiful 4lo as we were all getting ready for 4lz... the noise, the RELIEF, the love. Ugh. I'm not crying I just have ice dust in my eyes.
