I'm not sure if You're still doing these and I dont want to bother you but can you help me?. I'm an Infj 4w5 with a strong fix for 9. How can I figure out my tritype? I'm thinking its 469 maybe
If this is your tritype, I feel for you. It’s a contradictory type because on the one hand, 4 and 6 have a lot of strong opinions (especially since 4 has a line to 1, which also has strong opinions) but 9 wants to diffuse them all to keep the peace, so you’ll be someone with strong views that you often shut up about in mixed company to avoid conflict. Anyone with a 9 fix does not especially like to cause trouble, be in the middle of an argument, or cause angst unnecessarily. It will be hard for you to set boundaries and keep them, due to 6 and 9 both wanting to accommodate people and be kind. This will conflict with 4′s desire to be unique and independent.
4w5 is an extremely withdrawn core – it’s introverted, intellectual, cerebral, and emotional. You will have lots of intense feelings, but unlike a 3 wing, keep them to yourself / feel guarded about them. 5 wing makes the 4 more analytical and detached. It may be hard for you to express excitement or feel comfortable ‘letting yourself go.’ But 4 also means you can feel other people’s feelings and have a deep sense of empathy. People with this core and their emotions in the center of their stack may try and develop loops to cope with it – because small pains, sorrows, the emotions of others in intense agony, etc., will burn into them and cause them to reflect it. (This works with Fi, but even more so with Fe.) You also have a strong desire for beauty – to create it, to be around it, to have it.
Because 6 and 9 conflict with 4, how 4 will manifest will be distinguishing yourself from others – looking to actively set yourself apart, and in an NF, this may mean on an intellectual level. Perhaps seeing how other kids were at your age and deliberately being the opposite. Arguing when people try to infer you are no different from others. Looking at what others do or write, and figuring out how to stand out or be deeper. You may also form an identity that isn’t entirely true of yourself, out of a desire to protect your true self – the 4 “projection.” A 5 wing may tempt you to make that second identity more rational / detached than your natural state. 6 will be cautious and question everything, but likely not be as nervous or preparing for the worst as a 6 core. It will trouble-shoot, may cause more loops due to being fixated on seeing, pointing out, and solving problems. It likes to surround itself with trusted people when decision making – 4 leading it will have an internal sense of what decision they want to make, but 6 will consult others and run it past them for their thoughts, feeling most confident when your trusted family or friends agree with your conclusion or decision.
9 fix means you hesitate to cause trouble – you may have a strong instinct to respond and then diffuse it as you calculate the anxiety it may cause to stir things up. This is contrary to 6, which likes to make a little mess sometimes, to see what people are ‘made of.’ In times of conflict, in personal assaults, or when others are treating you unfairly, your response will be to withdraw and deny your anger. “Who gets angry about stuff like that? Not me.” You may be numb, and a little more detached from your feelings than a 4 without a 9 fix (especially since 5 also detaches, so you have influences of two straight up ‘pull away from feelings / deny them’ Enneagram types – 5 and 9). You may also find it hard to pull away from everyone else’s opinions. You don’t like to be pushed around and resist outside influence, despite being amiable.
Because 4 has a line to 1, and will act like an average 1 when feeling safe, you will have a lot of the traits of a 1 among trusted family and friends without its core fears (being bad) – you may be critical of self and others, work hard on self-improvement, and have a strong work ethic – which is also a product of 6.
The bad thing about this tritype is its self-doubt and hesitation. This 4 self-doubts about its identity and makes life a quest of self-discovery. This 6 doubts it can easily succeed in the outside world so it does not take risks and feels uneasy when it has to make decisions alone. This 9 doubts it can handle conflict, so it goes numb to it and retreats and/or accommodates to keep its friends close (for security - 6). The good thing is that this can be a deep tritype – 4w5 is naturally inquisitive, deep, melancholy, and can turn pain into art. 6 makes an active trouble-spotter and shooter; in an NF, it foresees future problems and can figure out how to avoid them, and in making mistakes to ruin its life. (Depending on your wings, you can be withdrawn with 5 or more funny and extroverted with 7.) 9 is open-minded, easily able to see and feel other people’s viewpoints as equal, so you will be agreeable, compassionate, and fair. Your final fix’s wing doesn’t make that much difference, but a 1 would reflect 4′s moving to 1 state and create a dynamic / combination of light 1 influences (the desire to be moral, good, etc); an 8 wing would cause you to ‘have enough’ sometimes and react angrily.
Because 4 lends you a bite, 6 can be both contradictory and charming, and 9 has a flow of calm, people will often like you overall and find you mysterious. But since you have 4w5 as your core, you’ll need a lot of time alone – too much socializing will drain you.
(This goes for all the 469s… I tried not to limit it to INFJ, and the few places I did, other 469s can self-insert their own cognition.)

PS: Changed the gifs to Anne Wheeler from The Greatest Showman. I mistyped her as a 459/549 at first, but she’s too aware and focused outward for a 5-fix. So, I think she’s a 469.
PPS: This is a good 4 video. Explains 4′s perfectly. :)
