TPN themes make me bawl my eyes out
Something I actually enjoy doing is listening to the first season’s songs from TPN. And I’m not talking about that one song that plays when the children are doing their exams (the one i refuse to change my mind that is saying “messy, juicy juicy, make me vibe vibe vibe”), i am talking mostly about the CHARACTER’S THEMES. There is no “theme song” for Isabella SPECIFICALLY, unlike there is one for Ray, Norman, Emma, Krone, etc. We can consider “Isabella’s Lullaby” as her theme song, even if she wasn’t the one to make it (can we credit Leslie btw rip he would’ve made a great escapee). However, this is not the main point here.
Isabella’s Lullaby: You can feel the amount of emotions there are in the song. First, there are the calming notes, a hint of sadness behind them. After the first 40 seconds or so, her voice gets louder, intense. In the chorus, you can feel pain. Struggle. You can imagine the scenes from the story of that woman, that fighter, that survivor, all she went through as a cattle child. Maybe that is just me, since i am someone overly sensitive and extremely emotional (INFP), or maybe I’m just the GOAT discerning notes and all that shit and how that makes me feel (we hate loud noises but blast music in our earphones yes we exist). In my own little brain with seven braincells i can picture scenes, feelings, situations, train of thought and somehow sometimes I’m even in the scenario or im THAT specific person going through something. And i see that woman. It’s fiction, of ducking course, but IMAGINE. Imagine BEING in that situation. Our poor dumbasses wouldn’t make it to six. These women endured SO MUCH, did horrible things to stay ALIVE, for a future where they lead their beloved children to death. Isabella is such a deep character that sometimes i still find myself thinking, floating around the concept.
63194 (Emma’s theme): There is SO MUCH to talk about this. The first seconds, the deep notes of the violin. It’s not the kind of song you would expect from the bubbly, optimistic, idealistic girl that we were presented through the first chapters/ episodes, instead, it’s something rougher, tougher; I don’t know how to word this, but it’s like seeing your usual coquette cute girl from TikTok blasting Mindless a self Indulgence, it doesn’t feel fitting, however, it is extremely related to our antenna girl (we miss yugo). Emma is absolutely destroyed as she watched her best friend, brother, whom she spent her whole life with, just walk ahead, knowing what awaits him. You hear the guitar(?), you hear the resistance. You hear Emma standing up. You hear her power. And then, you hear her moving forward. There are horrible things to go through. Hellish things. Nothing is certain. Their future is uncertain. But Emma keeps pushing, because she wouldn’t let Norman’s death go to waste, like she repeats again and again in the series. I rebloged something earlier. It’s a long ass text, however it’s SO WORTH to read that. Please leave a like at the original post. The pain, can you imagine yourself in her place? Would you be able to continue trying?
22194 (Norman’s theme): The piano. The fucking piano. The soft piano. Does it resemble Norman? Hell, it does. Sweet, gentle, kind. The violin, again. He did everything for his family, even in the last minute. He planned everything, in the right path. He sacrificed himself for his family. The 1:30 violin. Oh. My. God. My mouth is stupid again I can’t fucking explain. The whole melody is so… delicate. Unlike Emma’s theme, it reminds me so much of him, every single detail. It’s bittersweet how he only smiles since he went back from the wall inspection. It’s a smile of defeat, he’s accepted that nothing much can be done. He’s happy he’s done everything he could, and he hopes his family escapes safely. I’ll kms.
81194 (Ray’s Theme): He is the spy. We know. The suspicious notes. But again, the violin. It might have a connection to their suffering. How the violin screams as a silent coding for help. And I hear a piano note again? Totally out of the rhythm from the melody? Why is that so? Ray was always disconnected in some way. He was the first to learn the truth. He was alway the one studying to survive, always inspecting everything to make sure his plan would go well under the hawk’s eye. Always a step forward than your usual child that wants to spend the whole day playing. He couldn’t afford an ignorant childhood. He knew he would die. His siblings would die. His family would die. His family died before his eyes for 11 years. That’s why, as he himself mentioned, he had become that one card necessary for their escape. He is also a self sacrificing child but then again which of them three isn’t…
Perhaps I’m totally wrong because I can’t seem to remember where these three themes played in the story, but I think that I revolves mostly around what I have written about.
I might be tripping, but can you see that none of the themes contains their names, but their Id numbers? Because they’re a product. Meat. And that is their story, their struggles, fights, point of view, their lives as cattle children. They still have a chance, if they are smart enough to outwit grown adults and those giant nasty looking superior creatures from the farm system. Literal children. Would you be able to survive? Be honest.
happy birthday to one of my all-time favorite character 🧡
