Kids are so cute sometimes.
Okay, before I start this story, let me explain a few things.
I'm an assistant dance teacher. The actual teacher/coach does most of the classes, but her son teaches some classes for boys at the same time.
Okay. Storytime.
Alongside being an assistant teacher, I am also the prop master. I have painted multiple murals for recitals. This time I was working on repainting a set of steps and gluing a crap ton of sparkly things on it. Honestly it was not fun.
I had been working on these for hours.
One of the little girls finished her class and was waiting for her dad to pick her up. She came over to me and was watching me put sparkles on these steps.
Soon she was begging me to let her help. So, I layed down the glue for her so she could put rindstones on.
She would talk to me about whatever. Dance, how weird she thought it was that there were teenage boys doing gymnastics over on the other side of the building. (She's 7, so that seems appropriate.)
Honestly this girl is one of my favorites in her age group because she's so sassy. Don't tell the others.
So the boys class ends and Ben (teachers son) goes to talk to his mom. Sometimes he'll glance over at whet I'm doing then look at his mom again.
So this little girl. She looks at Ben. Looks at me. Looks at Ben. Then back at me.
She looks me dead in the eye and says, "I think Ben likes you."
I stop what I'm doing, I wasn't sure I heard her correctly. "What?"
"Ben likes you."
I break out into the biggest grin ever. She's so serious. She doesn't break my stare.
I laughed. She's so cute. "Sweetie, Ben is married."
Her eyes get super wide and then she looks back down at the rindstones on the steps.
Thirty seconds go by.
Then I hear: "Please don't tell Ben."
(I didn't tell Ben, but I told his mom and she thought it was so funny.)
((Also, finished steps. Pictures taken by my teacher.))
Saying goodnight
7 yr old: Auntie?
Me: Yes?
7 yr old: Since you know the gods and can control them tell Hephaesty I said goodnight
Me: *desperately trying not to laugh* Don't control them but sure
Bribery
Me: Hey clean your room before you go with mommy
7 yr old: Do I get allowance for it?
Me: Sure what do you want
7 yr old: I want it from Hephaestus because he's my favorite
Me: Hephaestus cat or Hephaestus god?
7 yr old: God. I want him to make me a bracelet
Me: Alright that's not how this works
7 yr old: No Hephaestus bracelet no cleaning
Me: Fine Hephaestus will make you a bracelet *walks away to find old bracelet I can pretend Hephaestus made*
