87 Shredder- I cooked on this one. Shows what happens when I have a reference in front of me :p

"You did WHAT to that chicken?!" - featuring Gdawgs Brother Shrimp! He is an excellent chef monk.

Limited Palette - I'm sure Raph's fine... Probably.

Crazy drink order. (Either what they'd order or inspired by them) - Fishbowl! Featuring a gummy shark Leo!

Limited Palette: must include specific shapes - Mikey's makin' his way through town.

Lair Games - Borrower Turtle Lair Games! Raph can haul a whole orange! [Inspired by this post by @Pvtpunsart] Leo is stuggling. And Mikey is... just out. Donnie's probably on April's shoulder while she records.]

My Favorites of TMNT: THE SHREDDER

And we have reached the villain. The main baddie, the one the turtles have to face off against again and again! Shredder himself! Such an iconic and fun villain and I had fun ranking these. Let me know if you think of any other characters you’d like me to rank; I’ve had lots of fun doing these!

#1 2003 Shredder

Well, who else could it really be? I mean, this Shredder is iconic for a reason. I would also count Karai’s version of Shredder here too, even though she wasn’t in the role nearly as long.

This Shredder is just sadistic. He loves to torment people. Just look at what he did to people for failure—especially Baxter Stockman. He enjoys it. And a villain who enjoys causing pain is always going to be fascinating.

His dialogue is also amazing. The way he can play the charismatic businessman and utterly fool so many people then become a ruthless killer is textbook psychopath behavior.

I also mentioned Karai as Shredder and I do think she deserves a mention because she found and destroyed the turtles’ home, something Ch’rell never managed to do.

The way the memory of this Shredder just…follows them through the series. Even into the crossover! If that doesn’t earn you the top spot, nothing will.

#2 1987 Shredder

Okay so is this Shredder the most threatening? No. Is he even the most competent most of the time? Also no. Could most, if not all, the other Shredders throttle him in battle? Absolutely.

But he is absolutely hysterical.

His relationship with Krang being like a bickering married couple is hilarious. Bebop and Rocksteady basically being his kids is also so funny. The way they play off each other is so great to witness.

And I think because he’s so bumbling most of the time when they do show him as intelligent, threatening and competent, it hits all the harder. Him in the early Red Sky episodes is great!

#3 1990 Shredder

He’s pretty impressive over the two movies we see him in. They do a lot to build up his presence and reserving him for the boss fight at the end of movie 1 was a good choice. He doesn’t present as over the top just experienced and very skilled.

Movie 2 definitely dips more into the cartoon influence but I think it’s actually a good balance. He still remains threatening and the final battle as Super Shredder while way too short had the build up and desperation needed.

He’s a good mix of threatening and humorous without losing his credibility.

#4 2012 Shredder

So, they really build up this Shredder. We get him being probably the most diabolical in a lot of ways and credit where credit is due—he actually does kill Splinter. Twice actually.

But we don’t see the turtles face off against him very much actually. He gives orders and commands his little army of minions and mutants but he doesn’t do the work himself very often. I would have liked to see him in action more.

But…when he does fight it’s damn impressive. They do a good job showing how his list for revenge slowly drives him insane until the Super Shredder literally is just a monster. That finale is exceptionally well done.

#5 Bayverse Shredder

I don’t dislike this Shredder. I don’t even mind the “Transformer Shredder” from the first movie. There’s just not much to him. It’s pretty evident they intended Sachs to be the main villain and shoehorned Shredder in last minute. He serves his role fine but he’s just… there.

They did a little improvement in the second movie but this is where the change to the turtles’ origin really hits hard. There’s no connection between them, Splinter, or Shredder and that takes out a lot of the emotional weight. So, he’s serviceable but nothing more.

Seriously, though, the best you can, read Rocksteady’s resumé!

Not only is it hand written in rainbow crayon, but all of his “past experience” is just various wars from the 90s to the early 2010s 😂 also “Iraq” and “Iraq Part 2” is on there which had me laughing for a good 5 minutes.

idk why this is so hilarious to me but I love the level of detail put into this it’s just…I’d just like to take a moment to appreciate this.
