9-1-1 2.04 • Stuck
Maddie has BEEN waiting for Buck to get it.
Ryan: It all started from I think it was season 2. Eddie and Buck were walking down and we kept on bumping each other's shoulders. So somebody picked up on that and that's where it just kept on growing and growing and growing and growing. Zach Sang: Like intentional in that moment? Ryan: No, it's just because Oliver doesn't know how to walk straight. (x)

we all get stuck from time to time. In our circumstances, in our fear, stuck on a page we haven't yet been able to turn. and when we're feeling stuck, or even just a little too comfortable, if we're very lucky, someone will be there to give us a little push, or a kick in the pants, or just offer a hand to help us get unstuck.
The Buddie™ in 2x04 fucks me up so MUCH.

Drove Eddie to the hospital double quick
Called ahead to get approval for bringing Chris to the firehouse for the day. Without being asked.
Gave Eddie a permanent solution to his problem that could've ended up with him losing custody of his kid.
Oh, again, he did that, without being asked.
If it were up to me, I would've given this man TWO HUGS.
Only got looks in return. Don't get me wrong, they were intense looks, but they were nonverbal all the same.
Remember people, this is probably a month into meeting eachother. Four episodes into the season.
And yet, it's extremely clear that Buck and Eddie are already operating on a different level to all others in their life.
Eddie, Mr. Independence, accepting Buck crossing boundaries to help and aid him in his troubles with no qualm or quarry.
Buck, Mr. Validation, not only being allowed to feel needed, he was also satisfied with only a grateful look briefly shot his way after stepping up in such a major way.
Eddie has claimed many times that Bobby has saved his life, when all Bobby did was provide him with a safe space to be himself and figure out what he needed in life. Something he's never got before in his life.
So, what must Eddie feel about Buck who actively participates in carrying his burdens, when Eddie has always been taught to just rely on himself, something that life had reinforced multiple times in his life?
Buddie has always been there. From the very very beginning.
And it's crucial to keep note of this because when Buddie goes canon, we'll know it's never been on a whim. Or because of "fan service". This was always the plan.
