Not sure if you're still taking prompts, but if so, would love to see something about Toothless + disability/chronic pain. There's so many wonderful fics abt like, Hiccup having a bad pain day and Toothless comforting him, but I'm really hungry for one where they're both hurting bc there's a snowstorm or something <3
Sorry this took so long to get done! I wrote this in the midst of one of the worst flares I've had in a while, so a looooot of that went into this fic (also a lot of research about amputation/phantom/scar tissue pain). Hopefully it's worth the wait!) Thanks so much for the ask! (Also, I'm using this fic to check off a BTHB square, too!)

Even before he opened his eyes, Hiccup knew it was going to be one of those days.
He hadn't moved yet, hadn't so much as shifted his legs or turned his head, but he could already feel it, descending upon him like a heavy shroud, wrapping his body in layers of pain and fatigue, scrambling his mind and setting his senses on fire. And the warning buzz in his lower left leg — which didn't even exist because he'd lost it three years ago — painted a grim picture of what was to come in the next few hours.
Nausea settled itself in the pit of his stomach, skin crawling and joints preemptively aching at the thought of moving, of sitting up, of strapping on his prosthetic leg and forcing himself to stand. Of dragging himself to the Clubhouse and subjecting himself to the chaos of breakfast with the other riders. Normally he enjoyed eating with his friends, but when he woke up feeling like this, the laughter was always too loud, the overlapping voices too overwhelming, and any degree of touch too grating on his already shredded nerves.
And so Hiccup didn't move. He didn't rise. Not yet. Just for now, for the next few minutes, he could rest here in this in-between state, where the full weight of the pain and fatigue had not yet crashed down on him, where he hurt but not too much, where, if he focused hard on something else, he could almost convince himself that this was going to be a normal day with a normal level of pain and a normal amount of exhaustion.
Being an amputee on Berk was not unusual by any means — though Hiccup was definitely the youngest — which meant that Hiccup had already known a bit of what to expect when he lost his leg. Especially growing up with Gobber as a mentor. Hiccup knew all about phantom limb pain, and how the scar tissue on the stump often hurt, especially if there was bad weather brewing just over the horizon. Between Gobber and his two stumps and Bucket and his, well, bucket, the village had never been struck by a storm unprepared.
(A storm was on its way now; he knew this already. He and the others had spotted it on a scouting mission, blowing their way from the east. They'd hoped it would blow itself out by the time it reached the Edge, but based on the agony in Hiccup's stump, it was good that they'd made preparations just in case.)
So although Hiccup had dreaded the possibility of long-lasting pain after his amputation, he'd at least had an idea of what awaited him. Or so he'd thought.
Because what he had not anticipated was the full-body assault that had accompanied the phantom and stump pains. It, much like the amputation pain, ebbed and flowed, though it never fully receded. It usually settled like a coiled viper in his joints, stretched along his muscles, and brought with it a fatigue so staggering, so all-encompassing, that it had a physical presence, like millstones had been tied to his limbs and hung around his neck, like enormous, unyielding hands were pressing against his shoulders, pushing him down, wringing him out.
SUPERBAT SUPERBAT SUPERBAT SUPERBAT I TRUST YOU TWIN SUPERBAT
TOO HIGH EXPECTATIONS!!! I'LL TRY!!
Clark respects Bruce so much. More than anyone can understand. It might be an unhealthy amount at this point.
Bruce respects Clark in the same way. He would probably, no, definitely be a worse dad if it weren't for Clark.
Sometimes Bruce will drop by the Daily Planet and just wait for Clark to get there. He restocks his supplies and tidies his desk because Bruce's love language i convenience.
Clark will drop in the manor on the excuse of bring Kon and Jon over and leave little stick notes, that fall off, all over Bruce's room and home office as well as The Cave. Because Clark's love language is encouragement.
Clark knows he's not the best dad, especially not to Kon. Bruce was the one that made him realise, that weather or not he liked it, Kon was his son in a weird way and he should treat him the same as he does Jon.
Bruce certainly relied on Clark a significant amount when first figuring out how to raise Dick, a grieving child that was meant to be playing with an elephant and his real parents who shouldn't be in the ground.
Clark taught Bruce the fundamentals of parenting. Then Bruce taught them back to Clark.
Neither of them will admit this to anyone except each other after long weeks when they're settled into bed and finally comfortable in a way that doesn't press on bruises or broken bones.
And people are surprised when Dick, so easily, started calling Clark Dad No. 3.
John is of course Dad No. 1. Dick will never forget how much his Papa loved him.
So, watched the final scenes of the movie, and am crushed. Gungnir-ed in the heart, K-f’king-O. Because of the tragic lovers that could never be.
Thus, this rewrite. Ultimately, outcome is the same as in the movie, but with some closure for those Rumi x Jinu stans/shippers out there.
Warning: major spoilers for those who haven’t seen the movie.
Also, if you don’t ship them, please do not read just to leave hate. Constructive criticism and comments only.

This Time
Rumi grunted, desperation and frustration bleeding through as she struggled to push against the intense force of Gwi-Ma’s vortex of fuchsia flames. But despite pouring out every iota of power she could draw out from her being, she could feel herself being pushed back ever so infinitesimally.
And it was enough to morph her desperation into fear.
She wasn’t going to make it, and judging from the way Zoey and Mira were calling out to her with worry evident in their voices, she wasn’t the only one who thought so.
Her arms began to lose strength, and falling onto one knee as she slowly approached what she began to believe was her end, he crossed her mind.
His arrogant and flirtatious demeanour that never failed to strike a nerve in her, his adorably goofy moments that she couldn’t help be amused by, his enthralling chocolate brown eyes with a golden gleam that always seemed to draw her very soul in.
“For what it’s worth, I don’t think you’re a mistake.”
And his beautiful voice which uttered the very words that had rocked her world to its core. That gave her a sense of acceptance. That, for the first time in her life, made her feel she was more than enough, knowing what she was.
Feeling the rattle of her sword cracking, she grit her teeth in a wince.
This was it, it’s over—
Suddenly, she was falling forward from the sudden lack of pressure, landing on her hands and knees. Finding herself staring at the ground, she blinked in an attempt to regain herself, to comprehend. When she did, she noticed how the thousands of people in the audience had fallen into a new lull, clearly different from earlier. Curious, she raised her head…
… and came face to face with those enthralling golden eyes that gave her her answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinu watched, astonished and dumbfounded, as she emerged from the crowd, baring her heart and soul for not just everyone present in the stadium, but the whole world to see.
Her demonic patterns unshielded from her usual long sleeves, her slow yet confident strut towards the stage, and her crystal clear voice resembling the lilting hum of angelic euphony.
Unafraid and unashamed, ready to face her inner demons, running no longer on her mind.
He could feel the stares of his fellow group mates on him, awaiting his orders as though expecting him to plan their next attack. And admittedly, he should have. But the words lodged stuck in his throat, rendering him speechless as he witnessed her and her girls quickly approaching each other from different ends of the stage, swiftly striking down the demons that rushed at them, obstructing them from reuniting with one another.
He alone remained still as the trio began advancing toward Gwi-Ma, doubts and hesitation plaguing his mind, holding him back.
He had vowed vengeance upon Gwi-Ma, for manipulating and deceiving him, for stealing what he had treasured most. He had abandoned everything — sympathy, sadness, kindness — for the sake of that one goal.
Then he met her, and it changed everything.
At first, it was merely amusement. Like a game of cat and mouse, toying with her till his plan would come to fruition.
Then, he learnt her darkest secret, and that amusement turned into… something more. He did things he did not understand himself, behaved in a manner he normally wouldn’t, spoke with a genuine lightheartedness he had long forgotten.
It brought back to the surface something he had buried a long time ago.
He had dared believe for salvation when Rumi made her offer, which resulted in his devastation when he believed it lost as things took a turn for the worst for her. For them.
He had foolishly opened his heart once more despite knowing the vulnerability it would entail, and that led him to being hurt again.
He thought his resolve had steeled when he ultimately chose to see through this plan, as orchestrated by him from the very start.
It wasn’t till Gwi-Ma finally attacked her, when he felt something deep within him stir once more.
And when he saw her slowly get pushed back, that something snapped.
Suddenly, everything else — his desires, his vengeance, his losses — didn’t matter anymore.
He barely caught the yells of his bandmates as he vanished from his position in a cloud of smoke, before reappearing before her.
The best thing that happened to him for the first time in centuries.
His hope.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the back of her mind, she registered the shocked gasps from her girls, and the disbelieving exclamations from his guys, but all of that reduced to nothing more than a numbing hum at the sight of the unusually weak curl of his lips as he stared back at her.
“Jinu…” His name fell from her lips before she realised what she was doing, as she automatically picked herself up and stumbled forward, a human hand and a pale clawed one trembling around his figure as the pink flames slowly began consuming at his being.
She could practically feel her heart sink at the soul-crushing sight, heavy breaths leaving her in harsh gasps. The trepidation she had felt earlier didn’t even come close to the absolute despair that clawed at her now, much more painfully than any wound ever inflicted on her, and more intensely than any negative emotion that plagued her heart every time Celine rejected her. More gut-wrenching than the fear that once gripped her at the prospect of being revealed.
Plunging her into an unfathomable darkness.
Despite herself, in the instant, she recalled every time she watched a Korean drama revolving around tragic romance with the girls, and every time she saw the heroine’s tearful heartbroken state whenever their beloved sacrificed themselves for her. She (and Mira) scoffed each time then.
Now? Those actors and actresses had not done this unspeakable emotion any justice. Seeing the flames slowly erode him seemed to form a new crack in her, bit by bit, as though slowly losing a part of herself as he did.
“No…” Barely noticing the crack in her voice, her hands slowly trailed upwards to his face, ghosting across his cheeks but never touching, as though dealing with a delicate piece of art. “No. No no no no… this isn’t— this is not what I wanted… I-I didn’t—”
As she struggled to find the right words in the diminishing time he had left, the words stammered forth, barely forming a coherent sentence. Her tumultuous thoughts came to a screeching halt when his clear voice cut through.
“I’m sorry… for… everything.” His usually confident and smooth words were unfamiliarly weak, unsure, even pained. As though something other than the incendiary flames burning into his back was torturing him.
And judging by the sheer remorse in his golden eyes, she knew what it was.
“No.” Her rebuttal gave him a start, anguish rising in him at the conceived idea of her rejecting his apology, till he heard her next words.
“I wanted to set you free.”
The firm assuredness of her words washed away any doubts that had begun to take root and all the pain that lingered, replacing it all with a peaceful closure he never knew he needed.
Years of seething in hatred, wallowing in hopelessness, and a life of solitude in a world of devour or be devoured, among beings that would never consider even trying to empathise with another’s feelings.
Suddenly, those words — her words — seemed to remove all those burdening emotions, like a great blue ocean washing over him in the gentlest of waves, enveloping and drowning him in an abundance of love that would forever fill the gaping hole in his being.
And its name was Rumi.
“You did.” She rose her head to return his gaze with a look of confusion which he couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at. He was more than aware of the irony of his situation and his words, but it made them no less true.
“You gave me my soul back.”
Like a lost child that eventually finds their way back home, he had found his humanity once more, guided by her gentle and loving light.
Rumi’s eyes took on a glassy texture as tears began to well up in her eyes, and they captured the way the ends of his lips curled upwards into the softest and most genuine smile she had ever seen grace those pale luscious lips.
“And now… I give it to you.” Before she could register that declaration, a bright light appeared in the centre of his chest, increasing in size as light blue wisps began to flow out and entwine itself around Rumi.
Finally comprehending what he was doing, Rumi rushed to stop him. “No, Jinu! Stop! If you do this, there’s- there is really no coming back—!”
“If I have to go anyways, I’d rather give myself to you, than to let him take anything more from me… including you.”
Rumi watched on helplessly, as what remained of his physical form rapidly dematerialised, continuously dissipating into luminescent streams of light. Whatever she was going to do, she had to do it now.
There was still so much she wanted- no, needed to tell him. But what should she say?
I’m sorry I couldn’t save you? That would only make him feel worse.
I promise I’ll win? That sounded like an empty promise of consolation that hardly seemed appropriate for the moment.
And then there were the three words hidden deep within her heart that… simply couldn’t be said aloud, no matter what. And they both knew it. It was a line neither of them could cross.
So instead, she took in a deep breath, a step forward, a step closer to him, carefully cradled his cheeks in the palms of her hands — as though terrified by the possibility of him crumbling away at her touch — and leaned forward in a swift motion.
Jinu’s eyes widened at the delicately soft and warm sensation that pressed against the edge of his lips, just barely stopping short of full-on contact. His mind vaguely noted the outburst of varied reactions from their audience and respective allies, but none of that mattered as his eyes met hers once more while she slowly pulled away, her tears now budding into clear beads at the edge of her eyes.
Brows furrowed in a clear sign of contemplation, carefully choosing what to say, what she eventually went with was, “Jinu… thank you. For saving me.”
For a moment, he didn’t react, seemingly freezing at her words. Unexpecting, but not at a loss. As his vitality waned from his soul being split two ways, he gathered the last of his strength and replied.
“I’m glad I did this time.”
Realisation dawning on her at the unspoken implication behind his words, Rumi’s eyes widened, before narrowing into a fond gaze as she bowed her head forwards once more, this time with him mirroring her.
The action brought their foreheads together in a light tap, noses touching and breaths mingling with each other. Wanting to savour the glorious sight of this ethereal woman till the end, without breaking eye contact for even a single moment, Jinu whispered, “Thanks to you…”
Truly, all because of you…
“I’m finally free.”
His words ended with the breathy blow of a light breeze, as the last of his physical form completely disappeared, revolving around her in the form of glowing wisps, leaving behind slightly burnt remnants of the blue and purple knotted strings to fall. She reflexively reached out and caught it before it reached the ground.
Feeling his very soul float around and assimilate into her, she slowly closed her eyes to revel in the feeling of him, prompting the budding droplets to stream down her cheeks.
The sensation of his soul offered to her felt like a pleasant embrace around her, just like how his arms that circled her shoulders and held her close to him back at the bathhouse. His soul became a part of her, filling the aching hole in her heart, making her feel so complete like never before.
And his power that now surged through her veins felt like a tender kiss, serving as a reminder that he would, from now on, always be with her, to protect her and fight alongside her.
To fill her with so much unconditional love she only ever dreamt of.
Channeling her newfound power into her hand, she clenched it into a tight fist, before her sword reappeared, this time with a different edge and glowing brighter than ever before.
As she adjusted the weight of her new blade in her clawed palm, she could almost feel him right behind her, his hand in hers like on that night they floated in the sky surrounded by prismatic lights, the other a reassuring palm on her back, and that sinfully saccharine voice whispering the kindest words.
“Now, save them, just like you did for me.”
She raised her sword up to face-level, turning the flat side of her blade towards her, letting its surface lean against her lips in a firm kiss.
Her eyelids finally fluttered open, as though a heavy burden had finally been lifted off of her, renewed determination positively shining in her chocolate-brown eyes in a sunny golden gleam.
“This time, for sure.”

Yes, so I think you can tell from this, how much Jinu’s sacrifice and consequently the end of their love story broke me.
I’ve hardly ever written hurt/comfort or angst, or major character death, so… I hope this didn’t suck.
I hoped you all liked it, and as mentioned in the beginning of this post, provided some closure.
Prompt: “Touch me. Feel my skin. I'm real, see?" For Garret Hawke x Anders
( @thedasweekend )
Garret was back in the Fade. The massive spider demon loomed between him and the rift that would hopefully return him to Adamant. Inquisitor Adaar and Warden Stroud were by his side. The Inquisitor looked between the two men.
“Hawke. Stay.” Was all she said before he charged forward. Something told him this was wrong. But it didn’t matter. He stabbed his staff up into the nasty monster, black blood spewing across his face, the bitter taste filling his mouth. He was choking, drowning-
“Garret! Garret!” Someone was shaking him. A flash of blue and Hawke surged upright, shaking and covered in sweat.
“Hey, hey, Garret. Focus. It was just a bad dream,” Anders’ voice cut through the panic. “Touch me. Feel my skin. I’m real, see?”
Anders’ hands were on his cheeks, turning Hawke to face him. “You’re here. With me. We’re safe now.”
Hawke nodded absently, a hand coming to Anders’ wrist, feeling his heart beat pulse through his veins. This was real. He was with Anders. The Inquisitor had saved him.
Garret focused on his breathing, burying his face in Anders’ neck.
“I’m here, it’s okay,” Anders promised.
Garret held onto his partner, inhaling his herbal scent until his heart steadied.
Something that’s been on my mind. This one was triggered by the song Walk Me Home by Pink.
Pro Hero Deku comes back to the agency after a long and tough battle outside of the city. He’s worn down and downright ready to pass out but he wants to show his face and reassure all of his workers that he’s okay. But he’s clearly not okay.
Well maybe it’s not that clear because you seem to be the only one who notices. You notice the way his smile falters lightly when no one is looking and the saddened look in his eyes when he’s alone with his thoughts for even a second. Little do you know, there’s a storm raging inside his head. Some pretty bad things happened on his mission and Deku being who he is... blames himself for most of it.
He locks himself away in his office for a few minutes which turns into a few hours. Eventually it’s only you left in the agency with him as you file away some late night paperwork. Writing up his villain encounter reports took a lengthy process of watching all footage available and making sure you log everything in excruciating detail. It’s nearly one in the morning when you complete your report and at nearly the same time the elevator at the end of the hall dings and your boss steps out.
He looks like the walking dead. Tired, emotionally drained, sore, every bad feeling wrapped up in a shitty bow. He’s no longer in his hero costume but instead some sweats, a tshirt, and a half zipped up jacket. He sees you instantly, surprised that anyone is still in the building, and gives you a small wave and tired smile.
“I’m heading home for the night, don’t stay too late okay? Sleep is important.” Deku speaks up.
You glance at your desk, you’re almost completely done, then you look to your bag hanging over the back of your chair, an idea hits you like the train that must have hit Deku to make him so beat up. He’s a little hurt by your silence at first but figures it’s just because it’s late and you’re busy. He doesn’t, however, expect the words that come out of your mouth as you shove papers in your back and sling it over your shoulder.
“Allow me to accompany you on your walk home sir, it’s in the same direction as my apartment.”
Deku’s too caught up in his raging thoughts to wonder if you’ve got any kind of hidden agenda behind your words. And if he’s honest... he doesn’t really want to be alone with his unsavory thoughts. Too much is plaguing his mind and having someone there to simply chat with might help him. So he accepts your offer.
At first your walk is awkward. You only really know him from working under him and you certainly don’t think conversation about the job is what he needs at the moment. You walk next to each other in silence, his hands in his pockets, and yours gripping the strap on your bag nervously. You hadn’t really planned very well. All you’d wanted to do was ensure he had some comfort in his time of need but you genuinely weren’t sure what that comfort could be.
“Hey boss?” You start quietly.
He glances over at you with a hum.
“You’re a pretty tough guy. I know the kind of stuff you handle on your own every day and it must be pretty hard,” Your knuckles turn white as you grip your bag tighter, where the hell are you even going with this, “you’re reliable but even the one’s holding the rest together need someone’s shoulder to lean on sometimes.”
He stops walking almost instantly. You greatly hope you haven’t upset him and stop a few steps ahead to look back at him. He’s staring at you with a faltering smile.
“Why’d you offer to walk me home?” He thinks he already knows the answer but he... needs to hear it.
You take a deep breath in, “I could tell when you came back to the agency that something is bothering you. You... don’t have to share it with me or anything I just figured... that is... I...”
A droplet of water hits your nose but you shake the feeling and look away from your boss a bit embarrassed at what’s coming out of your mouth.
“I didn’t want you to be alone.”
His tired eyes widen and the look of gratitude that washes over his face makes your heart swell as you give him a soft smile. Deku takes a few steps until he’s stopped directly in front of you. Another drop of water hits your face, this time on your cheek, and you reach up to wipe it away. No later than your hand dropped back to your side did the droplets multiply and soon it was raining. The rain doesn’t bother you though. The only thing you’re worried about in the moment is letting the man with a heart of gold know that he’s not alone.
You hold your arms apart a little awkwardly but he seems to get the message and allows you to pull him into a big hug. He squeezed you into a tight bear hug and you can feel his pulse racing as his shoulders start to heave and he shakes. No words are shared. The only sounds are his quiet sobs in your ear and the rain pounding against the ground around you. He clearly needed this.
Inside his head, he’s been drowning. He doesn’t like burdening others with his problems and it’s been a while since someone asked him if he was truly okay. His thoughts, his fears, his doubts, they were all so scary and handling them alone didn’t help one bit. With everything going wrong in the world he always wanted to give people a reason to smile and be happy but even he needed his time to cry. You were like an anchor that stopped him from floating too far out into sea. A star in the pitch night sky. The sun peeking through the dark raging storm.
It’s a solid few minutes before either of you move. You refuse to let go until he does and when he does he steps back to wipe the tears and rain on his face. By now the two of you aren’t soaked but your hair and clothes have started to hold water. It seemed that his crying session helped clear up the cloudiness in his mind because he offered you a truly happy smile and chuckle.
You kick at the small puddle that’s started to form in front of you on the concrete. It splashes out and onto Deku’s unsuspecting legs. It’s playful. Meant to cheer him up. He takes it as a challenge and kicks some back in your direction making some half hearted comment about how you can’t do that to your boss. He clearly doesn’t mean it with the way his smile never leaves his face. In a sudden burst of joy and excitement Deku jumps up a little and lands square in the middle of the puddle causing the water to splash in all directions including up onto you. You step back with a yelp that devolves into a laugh.
The two of you spend the remainder of the walk to his house splashing rainwater at each other and laughing loudly. When you do finally reach the pro hero’s house he invites you to stay the night. It’s quiet and he slips into a shy demeanor when he does ask but you know you heard him right.
“It would be rather rude of me to let you walk home alone in the rain right?” He asks.
You look into his eyes. Green irises of desperation look back. “You don’t want to be alone in this big house, do you sir?” You gesture to the building.
He shakes his head looking away from you.
“I don’t see why not. As long as no one sees me leaving in the morning. I can already hear the PR team yelling in your face about it. One of your workers staying the night at your house might not bode well with the media, you do know that right boss?”
Deku looks at you with soft eyes, “I know but I really don’t want to be alone. If someone does see I’ll handle it.” He pushes a section of your hair from your forehead where it seems to have gotten stuck, “and please, it’s Izuku, if you’d like.”
Was listening to my songs from movies and musicals playlist earlier and I’m just saying Tommy listening to So Close from Enchanted and eating ice cream and crying after he realises what a mistake he made breaking up w Buck 😭
Fic Summary:

What better way to cure her boredom and help Lucas get over his ex than by falling into bed together?

No kissing
If it stops being fun, it ends
And - most importantly - no catching feelings
