“The stars harden you, I s’pose. You don’t even realize it’s happening. One day you’re sitting on a spaceship waiting to die... There’re these sparks flying about your face, you know? Hot and loud, and all you can do is just sit there and think ‘what the hell am I doing? I followed this man I don’t know onto a blue box and now I’m gonna die and someone is gonna have to tell my Mum Britney Spears was playing in the background...’
But then. you don’t die. And that man turns out to be the most wonderful man. And he teaches you things about yourself you don’t realize you don’t know. And he shows you the stars, and you learn all the courage they hold inside. And you dance. And you play. And yes, there’s aliens and stuff, but that don’t matter, really, because it’s not about them. It’s about one. One alien. Or... two, I s’pose, if you want to count the box, which you should...
But the stars sort of do what they want, and just when you think it’s never going to end it does, and you find yourself in a world that’s not yours and he’s not there and you realize just how strong you are. And by the time you find him again you’re no longer shaking on spaceships afraid of loud sounds and sparks. You’re causing the sparks. You are the loud sound... and you realize you’ve created yourself, and the stars showed you the way.”
