i really like when a light hearted story turns dark without any prior notice or hint.

something like, you know the childhood friend of the mc, which he had a secret crush on, and was finally going to confess to when he returned from the capital.

well, she’s dead now, her parents sold her off to a brothel because they were in debt, and a noble who visited the brothel got angry when she refused him, so he raped and killed her.
