Amidst all the outrageous news going on globally, NZ has some Totally Normal news to share:
(Also a bit of a rant in tags, as is par for the course)
#disclaimer I've not read the article and there are many more pressing matters at hand so may not get to it#but yeah#NZ having slow news day#one must wonder are NZ and/or Aussie news outlets in cahoots with govt/Google to stifle important news#one must also wonder why i allow Google to serve me news (and via notifications no less 🥴) but i guess that's a me problem#imo there has not been sufficient news coverage on: how disabled beneficiaries are getting fucked over and forced off#disability allowance etc compounded by a 2-3+ weeks long wait for social security to process Confirm Your Circumstances forms THEY demanded#imo that's criminal - if not legally then socially/humanity-wise#hells yah I'm pissed at this austerity govt we're under#they attack the weak bc it's easy and they seem able to get away with it#a**holes#slow news day in NZ#meanwhile in New Zealand#have we become the new Finland?#also has not been enough coverage on other benefit-related stuff like the pitiful annual general increase of $1#and also not enough journalism that doesn't just act like the impending Under 16 Social Media Ban is simply about saving the children#- whether we need to protect the children or leave it up to the parents. that seems to be as far as the scope of#NZ's investigative journalism goes apparently. not the fact that enforced age verification is a breach of all our privacy and security#ridiculous how shortsighted ppl can be#but go off i guess (@NZ govt and Save the Children advocates)#maybe actually put some time effort and funding back into mental health services for a start??#along with maybe introducing modules in schools to teach online safety and get parents in for a session on utilising#parental control settings already available in a lot of socmed - also easing cosi livs crisis wouldn't go astray??#so parents out there working five jobs to barely even keep their family unit's head above water actually have more time with their kids#in which they can actually raise their children and instill values and safety tips etc and embark upon utilizing safety settings#instead of the govt taking it upon themselves to just ban f***ing everything#but no you pop off NZ govt... 🥴🙄#and for that matter all other govts with these mass surveillance/anti-privacy laws#we see you for who you are (con artists/bullshit artists)#srry idek if my initial intention for this post was supposed to be lighthearted and fun or miserable lol
