“i hope you’re proud of yourself. tell me. how does it feel to know you always have me coming back?”

yuchan chose not to answer, instead opting to hold your waist tighter and push his frame closer to yours. he delicately raises your chin, allowing himself to stare into your eyes. the lights in the empty bar hallway don’t do him justice, the blank forest green walls only making him stand out more. he places a soft, light kiss on your lips. he keeps his face close to yours, bringing your foreheads together. he sighs, “i don’t know what’s more impressive: my ability to have you coming back time and time again or how desperate you are to return. it’s the same routine.”

you scoff at how shameless he is. “i wish you wouldn’t look at me like that. you say that you’ll be there and that you love me, but we always end up fighting.”

“tough love,” he spits out.

“this,” you pause pointing in between the two of you, your voice raising in volume and irritation, “is not tough love, chan. it’s tough, but it’s not love.” 

“come on… don’t say that.” he reaches down to hold your hand, a second too late when you yank it away defensively.

“did you ever actually love me?”

he hesitates. “of course, i did.”

“exactly my point. you did. you don’t anymore.” you place your hands against his chest, feeling the satin material of his button up. you gently push him away from you. “why can’t you just let me go for once? it’ll be better for the both of us.”

“i will, eventually. i can’t now, not right now. tonight, i want to be with you. at least give me that. please… for me…”

you don’t know what happened afterwards. it’s a blur like always. one second he’s talking all sweet, trying to convince you, and you want to refuse. only thing you’re sure of is muttering the words “just for tonight” some time in between. yet you always find yourself waking up in his bed the next morning.

[5:10 am] Making sure not to wake you up Donghun tucks you in and gives you a kiss on the forehead. One last look your way as he closes the door heading out for his first schedule of the day.

it didn't seem like winter was going anywhere any time soon. So your childhood best friend insisted on going ice skating when he came to visit. The two of you shared a peppermint hot chocolate as you skated around the ice rink.

"Remember when we used to go skating on that massive lake by our houses back home?"

"Remember when you had your first kiss on the field right next to it?" You teased.

"You had yours there too!" He whined.

And, as if to keep up with traditions, you ended up having your first kiss with him by the ice skating rink the next day.

Jun had been driving you wild all night. He kept teasing you under the table and you were over it all. The dinner, the crappy food, him teasing you, everything. You just wanted to go home. Jun was being an annoying tease all the way home. When you both finally stepped into the bedroom, he pushed you down onto the bed with a smirk. He unbuttoned his shirt and climbed on top of you. Slowly, he removed every piece of clothing on your body whilst staring directly at you to see your reactions. His teasing seemed to never end.

“God, Jun.” You groaned. “Can you just get on with it?”

“If you say so.” He shoved his finger inside of you causing you to gasp in shock. “I didn’t know you were so sensitive.”

“I’m no-” Your sentence was replaced with a loud moan as he inserted another finger. He pushed his fingers in knuckle deep and picked up the pace. You couldn’t help but moan out his name.

“I like it when you say my name like that.” He smirked. He abruptly stopped causing you to let out a whine.

“Keep going.” You sat up and looked at him. Your juices dripped off his finger. He brought his fingers to his mouth and licked them.

“I will.” He said as he lowered his head.

Being immortal sucks.

Sure, you can stay young and live forever. But when you’re the only one, living among people who have a limited lifespan, it hurts to see the ones you love just disappear. That’s why Sehyoon tries not to get attached to anyone, knowing that he’ll have to suffer watching them die in the end. But it’s different with you.

He met you centuries ago, in the 1800s, and if he can only use one word to describe you, it will be radiant. You brought the light into his dull life, after spending millenniums just plodding around the earth with nothing in mind. He had fallen for you, and you have become his purpose to keep smiling despite this cursed immortality of his. So every time you reach the end of your short mortal life, he will search for you after your rebirth. Your next life will always be somewhere different from your last, but Sehyoon is determined to find you, no matter what. Fate seems to be on his side, and for your past lives, the two of you always ended up together. 

But this time...he’s lost. He had searched far and wide, to the deepest ends of the earth, and still nothing. Not one sign of you. Getting more and more desperate as time goes on, he wonders if he’ll ever find you in this life. He wanted to reunite with you so badly,  each day spent looking for you, each night missing you. The thought of returning back to his old, dreary life before you came haunted his dreams.

Sighing to himself, he pulled his hoodie over his head and turned the corner to see a school. Deciding to wait there to see if you’ll be among the students, he waited for the bell to ring. It was almost the end of the day anyways, so he didn’t have to wait long. A few minutes later, students started to rush out the front doors. Sehyoon tried to search for your face among the crowd, his ray of hope dwindling with each person passing by. 

“See you tomorrow Jun! Tell Chan to stop procrastinating so he can actually get some decent sleep!”

Sehyoon’s head shot up hearing a familiar voice. Could it be…? Pushing his way through the throngs of students, he saw you waving to a blue-hair boy before walking in the opposite direction. God, it’s been way too long since he saw your face, he wishes he can just run up to you and hug you. But no, he needs to take it slow, like every other time, since you won’t remember any of your previous lives. He’ll befriend you first, and one day, you’ll be his again. The thought warmed him up inside, and he smiled for the first time in years.

He quickened his pace so he was walking a few feet behind you. You seem to be looking for someone up ahead though, and Sehyoon craned his head to see who it is. 

“Byeongkwan, wait up. You promise me cuddles and kisses when we get home, remember?” you yelled. 

Sehyoon stopped in his tracks after hearing your words. Who’s Byeongkwan? You couldn’t have…

“You’re so slow,” another guy, who Sehyoon assumes is Byeongkwan, ran up to you, pouting. “Hurry up, I just heard a new ice cream parlor just opened, let’s go on a date first before going home, ok?” You nodded, smiling, before taking his hand. “Let’s go then.”

Watching the interaction between you two, Sehyoon felt as if a knife pierced his heart. He observed from afar as you, his soulmate, got farther and farther away with your boyfriend, your laughter slowly fading. After so many years of searching, he had finally found you, but why does it feel as if he lost you? His hands clenched into fists at his sides to stop them from shaking.

He was too late.
