DnD Shorts #3

This is the story of how we stopped the session for 3 hours to prevent two players from killing each other's characters.

The party was heading to a cursed valley so, they decided to take a long rest to spend the night before they go.

The Party: Let's order some food and talk to the other adventurers if they know anything.

Bard: I want to seduce the inn keeper.

DM: Uhm, she has a wedding ring on her finger.

Bard: I want to seduce the inn keeper.

DM: Uhm...okay. First role play, then charisma check.

Bard: *tells a heroic story, flirts, then rolls 24*

Bard slept with the inn keeper and in the morning, he took her wedding ring which she put on the nightstand. He returned to the inn.

DM: The inn keeper's husband is behind the counter, slicing meat. Your friends are having breakfast.

Bard: I approach to the husband, put the ring on the counter in front of him with a smirk on my face.

DM: ... He freaks out with anger. He comes to face you.

Bard: I stab him with my sword.

DM: Make an attack roll.

Bard: *rolls 19*

DM: You killed the husband by piercing his chest with your sword...

Fighter: Okay enough I attack the bard.

The party was investigating a crime scene. They discovered a glowing blue fuse in the bottom of a water well. They needed to take it.

Druid: *figures he is too noble to deal with the bottom of a well because he is a high elf*

Wizard: *anxiously offers casting Mage Hand*

Rogue and Fighter: *discuss about swinging the rogue into the well like a tea-bag*

Drunk Bard: *casts Unseen Servant to get the bucket*

The Party: Oh that's actually a good ide-

Drunk Bard: *draws water from the well then drinks it*

Meet: Castella the Rogue

Castella | 17 | Female | Tiefling | Chaotic Neutral

Party's trouble-maker.  Basically a cute jerk who likes to mess around with people.

She tries to hide anything that hints to her. She is the mystery queen.

She steals stuff. A lot.

She is also known as Bluetip, the famous assassin of the shady underground faction Blind Knot.

Lore: The Calendar

The Balance has to be maintained and last for eternity. As a devotion, each year consists of a Cycle of Rise and a Cycle of Fall. 

Cycles start and end with Cella, The Life or Volac, The Death just like The Existence started with them. Each month between is dedicated to a god from The First Pantheon of Chaos and named after their deities. Only White of Life and Black of Death last for two months in a row, indicating the shift between the cycles.

Each month lasts for three weeks, each of the three is also dedicated to a minor god from The Second Pantheon of Chaos.

Lore: The Existence

It all started when The Life and The Death broke off from The Chaos, ending The Timeless Ages. 

The endless struggle between Cella and Volac, the light and the dark, the creation and the destruction, the life and the death; lasted for The Age of Collision. It was impossible for one to consume the other, after all they were two even halves of The Balance. Yet, from these collisions, more was to born. 

The First Pantheon of Chaos was arisen from Cella, first gods of existence and the soldiers of The Life. And The Primeval Creatures came, formed out of Volac, being the roots of all the monsters of the darkness. So that The Age of Chaos begun.

In this in-between state of prevalence and vanquishment, The Planes of Existence were created in the chaos where the creation or the destruction dominated the existence. Cella and The First Pantheon of Chaos created The Material Plane to rule the livings while Volac and The Primeval Creatures created The Hollow Plane to rule the dead. And when these planes overlapped, The Ethereal Plane was emerged, a mystical realm where there is no ruler over the living or the dead, a reflection of both. 

The Balance was restored only to be broken. The Age of Corruption came when The Death infiltrated The Life by using The Corrupted God, one of the soldiers of The Life that was spoiled by the darkness. Endless battles of creation and destruction shook the existence for ages until immortals of The Material Plane became mortal and the dead of The Hallow Plane became alive.

Planes were intertwined with each other. Once again The Life and The Death expanded their existence and The Age of Correction begun. The Second Pantheon of Chaos was joined the forces of Cella, three minor gods for each of the firsts. Meanwhile all the monsters born were scattered across the Planes of Existence, lurking in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to feed on the light.

The order of life and death were created; always trying to overrule each other but can’t exist without the other either. So that the cycles of balance started ruling the existence.

Lore: The Realm

Abannland is chaotic. 

Not just because of the invaders coming from other existential planes, but also because of the creatures that live in the realm. Uniting the different cultures of the races under the same loyalty is almost out of question. There are no kingdoms or cities but only small towns and villages scattered across the peninsula. Most of them survive on their own using the available resources nearby and also they trade their goods in exchange for non-existent or insufficient resources. But isn't there any authority at all? Of course there is! Whoever becomes more powerful has a saying over the others. There are some factions operating this way, that are accepted by the society. 

Well, most of the society...

While the lawful spell casters are united under the watch of Ash Seals, mighty knights and warriors of the Nocturnal Guardians help them keeping the order in the towns and villages. In the wilderness, wise hunters and druids of Amber Tree are keeping watch, hunting down the invaders before they approach to settlements. In the waters around the realm, sails the Nightmare Singers, the dreadful pirate crew that even the creatures in the deepest of the seas shiver when they hear their voices. And when the darkness falls, Blind Knot's bold assassins and spies leave their underground hideouts to face the dangers lurking in the shadows that no others can dare.
