I just realized that Tera isn't acting so strange because of the vampirism, she's acting so strangely because she read that enochian book in season 1, episode 8. Yes vampirism can be corruptive but even as a vampire Tera still shows moments of clarity and compassion, especially for Maria. She realized that Maria was going to kill Abbott Emmanuel and told Juste to stop her. She realized that she was going to kill Juste and stopped herself. She realized that Maria's desperation to be with her, to be a vampire would lead her down a path of damnation and she left. Even her teaching Maria about the darkest aspects of her powers is something Tera could justify to herself as something in Maria's best interest. But Tera smiling down at Emmanuel's ashes is uncharacteristically cruel for her, even by her vampiric standards. And I think she has this moment of cruelty because she was so close to Old Man Coyote's presence.
Back in season 1, episode 8 Tera used Old Man Coyote's enochian book to literally tear a hole into hell. There's no way she didn't tap into his power while using that book. And I think the moment her eyes turned fully black is the moment I think she first made contact with him. If her eyes turning black was a thing established to make her look cool then I think they would've turned black much earlier into her incantation, but this was deliberately built up to. I think it was always meant to be foreshadowing. And I think that Old Man Coyote capitalized on his brief connection with Tera and the violation of her humanity at Erzsebet's hands to start shaping her into his perfect pawn. The questions now are: How far gone was Tera in the last moments of season 2? And what plan is she being used as a pawn for?
I definitely don’t ship Emmanuel and Tera but like. I need a fanfiction about them and baby Maria, not in a cute way but in like a super angsty way
Just spitballin here about themes…
Thinking of Dracula being alone all that time and then he met Lisa, who encouraged him to travel and see the best of people, the same Dracula who tore down the Church for her, and Alucard being a manifestation of the love they had for each other
Meanwhile, Tera lost all who she knew and probably saw the lowest of low for humanity, met Emmanuel who was part of the Church who believed his own hypocrisy, and kept his love for Tera and Maria secret
