still cant beleive some antis are in their 30s and even 40s. that's waaaaaayyy past tantrum age.
One hard lesson I've had to learn over the years is that there's no age limit to tribalism and reinforcing cultlike cycles of shame and fear.
Insecurity is a well-known fallacy of childhood thinking and inexperience, but if you're infantilized enough by groups who want to control you even to the point of thinking for you, you will end up seeming childish even when you're old enough to know better, and that's the tragedy of high-control groups; It's an abusive relationship where previous victims become new abusers.
Christopher Hitchens famously said, "Religion makes kind people do unkind things, and it makes smart people say stupid things." Obviously, I don't think this applies to all religion, but it DEFINITELY applies to all cults, and not all cults are religious, even if they're informed by religious thinking, like the antishipping cult.
This is why critical thinking is so critical; Childhood indoctrination is a type of grooming, as grooming is a precursor to abuse that prepares a person to accept abuse. If you teach a child critical thinking skills, you can persuade them to believe whatever you can substantiate with evidence, but if you terrorize children with shame and fear, rewarding their submission and punishing their dissent, then you can make them believe whatever you want them to believe. There's no limit to the cruelty of childhood indoctrination.
The antidote to this abuse of power is real and proper education, which is why the right is so against it; It would compromise their power if everyone else was informed and united.
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." —Fredrick Niechzte
