‘ There was nowhere for Neil to stand except up against Andrew, but somehow Neil didn’t mind. They’d been apart for seven weeks but Neil keenly remembered why he’d stayed. He remembered this unyielding, unquestioning weight that could hold him and Al his problems up without breaking a sweat. For the first time in months he could finally breathe again. It was such a relief it was frightening; Neil hadn’t meant to lean on Andrew so much. ‘ (The King’s Men, page 16)
Y’all, they’re literally THE ship everrrr
Gods, they haven’t even kissed yet, but the way Neil describes Andrew will always kill me.
Oh, to be loved so much by someone who seems to be able to hold you and every one of your problems up with such ease.
To feel such relief that you describe it in the same way you describe the opportunity of college, like a dream and damnation all at once

Absolutely Everything is out now! 📓🧠 So excited to have this book in the world after working on it for so long! Marcella is a character I made when I was in 6th grade, so seeing her finally in a real book is amazing. When I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult while working on my first book, Other Boys, I revisited Marcella's stories I had written over the years and looking at them through this new lens lead to Absolutely Everything!
Every now and then, it will occur to me that perhaps, through a combination of hyperfixation and projection, i have in fact exaggerated the similarities between myself and one Dean Winchester. And then i will be sitting at the dinner table and, for example, expressing confusion as to how my flatmate behaves towards his younger brother, and my little sister will say something like "yeah well not everyone sees being an older sibling as like their job" and look at me. And i will sit there, struck dumb by something that, despite Dean Winchester, i really had not previously considered in such black and white terms, and i will realise that she is absolutely right.
It always explains everything
