However, our school is not very good at providing timely funding for club resources and our academic decathlon team is without its study materials. Which cost $800.
If by some miracle of god anyone who sees this does academic decathlon or knows someone who has the materials, PLEASE contact me, as we need access to them in some way shape or form STAT because we can’t afford to buy them short notice and it would put our team captains (including me) into the red.
As thanks (if you want it) you can count on 1 FREE COMMISSION!
No joke, I'm really excited about this. It's pretty close to the end of the academic year, so I'm pushing this fine, I know... BUT we can make it work! You also do this at any stage in the year, and you can break it up over time because it is a big one!
Acadeca: Academic Decathalon
Girlies, I know you're all as pro-learning as me, and I KNOW you're as competative, do not lie to me. Like, this is for fun... but I also suggest a points system. But just imagine competative learning with your besties! Here're all my thoughts- and here's the long post warning because I remembered the keep reading!
I’m not gonna lie, queens, I learned that the United States Academic Decathalon was even a thing because of My Little Pony. I watched The Friendship Games and I was like “on one hand, fun, on the other hand, what high school is letting kids do motocross?” Anyway, for my fellow non-Americans, the AcaDeca has ten events: art, economics, essay, interview, language and literature, math, music, science, social science, and speech.
Get a group together, and each of you can set a couple of challenges to earn points over a set period.
As adults, we probably all have jobs, but you could make it a monthly thing or something like that, and have a Christmas night out where you announce the winner.
If you’re setting the challenges yourself, they do not have to be the ones listed above.
The My Little Pony list was as follows
Science (experimnt unclear, but Explosion=Bad)
Baking
Birdhouse building
Spelling Bee
Maths (solve this ungodly equation)
Relay Leg One a): Obstacle Course
Relay Leg One b): Archery
Relay Leg Two: Roller Derby
Relay Leg Three: Motocross
Scavenger Hunt/Capture the Flag
Can I reiterate: what high school is letting kids do motocross? I think taking the lists here as Inspiration Only might be wise.
Suggestions I have, some from the offical list and the My Little Pony list, some my own
Nothing feeds my ego like saying I tell award winning Batman jokes.
This is 100% unironic. I actually placed in the Academic Decathlon speech category after giving a speech about the history of the Robin mantle and throwing in a few one liners. I have a literal medal for my speech.
i started working the morning lap swim shift at work and i’m having to wake up at 4:45 am. it’s majorly messing with my sleep schedule
