CSBB: No Good Deed

Posting for No Good Deed by @accio-ambition, with artwork by @wellhellotragic, has finished!

Summary: Killian Jones is a gentleman. He and his brother pride themselves on the matter, even if it ends with harm to them. So when an angry ex of Killian’s client bites him, he tends to the wound, watches it heal, and thinks no more of it. Until he wakes up in a closet on his ship with no memory of what happened the night of the full moon. Fleeing from the unknown, the brothers Jones find Storybrooke, and with it, Emma Swan, who is a lot more familiar with their situation than anyone could expect. And when an old foe comes to their new home, Killian has to rely on new talents to keep those he loves safe.

“Right,” Emma monotones. “Anyway, if you guys could give me a tour of the boat-”

“Ship, love.” It’s Jones that interrupts her and she can tell, just knows, that he’s going to do that for the entirety of this project. “The Jolly Roger’s a ship, not a boat.”

“Not your love,” she mutters. And then, under her breath to self, she mumbles, “Really not your love.”

In a moment, he’s somehow magically appeared at her side instead of in front of her, breaking all her boundaries. “We shall see, Swan,” he whispers in her ear. “We shall see.”

Emma jumps, if for no other reason to hide the dissipating goosebumps on her skin.

“Gimme a tour of the ship -” she looks pointedly at Jones- “like Jeff said and we can all get on with our lives.”

I’m in a strange mood, and nothing can make my feel better and I feel like the fandom is falling apart these days so I wanted to make something to make YOU feel better even if I don’t feel that way. 

I tried to make a follow forever, but I realized I couldn’t, because I was never good at that, so I decided to make this post and to say that I am so grateful for the years spent here with all of you! 

You are like a second family to me and I am happy that I met you here, talked to you and become friends. I hope we’ll stay like that many many years from now.  

And like I said, I can’t really do a follow forever, but I’m gonna tag some people that I really special to me, make my day better and my dash full of good things and I hope they know that. But fi you don’t then you should know that you are all really special to me!

CSBB Author Spotlight: Accio-ambition

Today’s Captain Swan Big Bang Spotlight features @accio-ambition!

How long have you been writing for the OUAT fandom? Did you write anything else (original or fan fiction) before joining the OUAT fandom?

I wrote a little bit of Arrow fanfiction when I first started writing OUAT, but it's been mostly OUAT for the last...four or five years? Almost all Captain Swan, but some Outlaw Queen and a sprinkling of other pairings in between.

What sort of fic do you like to write? What sort of fic do you like to read?

I guess I like to write stories based off either the little things in life or tumblr posts I see or dreams I have. I write a lot of fluff. I like to read a lot of fluff. 

Besides your Big Bang fic, do you have anything else in the works?

Not right now. I'm looking into self-publishing one of my other MCs, but that's only when I'm feeling fanciful on dreams.

If you participated in the Captain Swan Big Bang or Little Bang before, what was the experience like for you? What are you looking forward to this time around?

So I've participated in all the Big/Little Bangs because the previous round of stories always inspires something. Every time it's been a little bit different. I'm hoping to make some more friends this time around, maybe be a little more communicative on Discord. The story I'm planning out is also a venture into a genre that I've never really explored before, so I'm excited to see how that turns out.

What is your favorite fic you’ve written for OUAT?

I've got some ties in favorite OUAT fics, but I'm going to go with my first MC, Shower Streams (ao3, FFN, and tumblr). It took me three years to finish, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears and I learned a lot from it. Shower Streams was my child through the entirety of college. I still think about it. One day, I'll go back and write an epilogue or a sequel or something. I have parts of it written, but life is in the way, as per usual.

CSLB Author Spotlight: accio-ambition

Today’s featured Captain Swan Little Bang author is @accio-ambition!

How long have you been writing for the OUAT fandom? Did you write anything else (original or fan fiction) before joining the OUAT fandom?

I've been writing OUAT fanfic for probably close to five years now. I didn't really write anything before, but I did briefly write for the Arrow fandom simultaneously.

What sort of fic do you like to write? What sort of fic do you like to read?

I love reading anything that has a parent/child-like relationship and/or AUs. I like writing pretty much the same.

Besides your Little Bang fic, do you have anything else in the works?

I recently finished posting for the last CS Big Bang (shameless self promotion, go DITLOT) and I've got a couple of one-shots in the works in that universe that fill in some plot things during and after that story.

If you participated in the 2016 Big or Little Bangs, or the 2017 Big Bang, what was the experience like for you? What are you looking forward to this time around?

I've had the opportunity to participate in both Big Bangs. The first time was kind of confusing because it was so new, but this last time around was great. My favorite part of the whole thing is learning that I can write what equates to an entire novel and not have it take three years. I learned a lot and I like the camaraderie and support that comes with CSBB. This time around, I'm a little wary about the maximum word count. I think I can do it, but it's going to be a challenge I look forward to. 

Featured Fic: watch me fall a little more in love

It's so simple. The story came from a gif that a friend sent me and it was just me playing on my love for parent/child relationships and it's tooth-rotting sweet. And now every time I see the gif, which isn't often but still has happened, I think of this story.

CSBB Author Spotlight: accio-ambition

Today’s Captain Swan Big Bang Spotlight features @accio-ambition!

What is your writing process like?

A mess. I usually have a plot I try to follow and then I tackle whatever part speaks to me that day. I usually spit out dialogue and some vague descriptions and then work from there. I write a lot like contractors build: one step at a time.

What do you think your greatest strength is as a writer?

I like to think I'm pretty good at voices. Like, I feel like I can write Emma and Killian pretty well and pretty in character.

What’s a particular trope or kind of story you’ve wanted to try, but haven’t gotten to yet?

I've always wanted to be better at smut. Like I tried to write it once and I felt like a middle schooler. It was not pretty.

Who is your favorite OUAT character to write?

I don't know if I have a favorite, but I write Killian a lot more than I would have expected. There's just so much fodder to play with, no matter what universe or realm or whatever a story takes places in.

If you participated in the first Captain Swan Big Bang, what was the experience like for you? What are you looking forward to this time around?

First time around, Big Bang was interesting because I had this great idea and I planned it out and then I got in contact with my beta and she ripped it apart. It was for the better, honestly, she did exactly what a beta was supposed to do, but it made it a little more difficult. I'm hoping this time around I actually sort of stick to the schedule because I think I let my last Big Bang sit for like two months without adding anything because of life happenings. Crossing my fingers that's not the case this time.

Favorite Fics:

Forever is Composed of Nows (FFnet/AO3/Tumblr)

This was the culmination of last year's Big Bang. It was really fun and hard to write, but my artist was amazing, as was my beta, and I felt extremely accomplished when it was published.

Shower Streams (FFnet/AO3/Tumblr)

This was actually my second foray into fanfiction at all and it started as a two shot that grew into a huge MC that consumed the better part of three years of my life. It means so much to me and it got such great reception. It taught me a lot and it's always going to be my baby.

This story has actually gotten the most notes out of any of them and it's really adorable, if I do say so myself.

I thought the same thing before I did it, but it's actually really sort of enlightening and when I finished and published my big bang, the sense of accomplishment was incredible. I think you can do it. No pressure, you do you, but if you want to do it, don't let a number stop you. You might surprise yourself. :)

In order to get there, I would definitely need to think of a plot that good enough to keep me interested for that long. That said, I appreciate your encouraging words!
