Accommodating Resistance with the Chains - Weight increases through the Concentric phase of the lift. Its all about the Force Velocity Curve - When Force (weight lifted) increases, Velocity (bar speed) decreases... With high weight we are working Maximal Strength and with low weight with high velocity we are working speed. Essentially chains match our leverage... The bar is lightest when our leverage is at its weakest, and the bar gradually increases in weight as leverage improves. Working with chains therefore gives us the ability to develop explosive strength.
