Open Character: Gabriela Luis Miguel | S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent | Alignment: S.H.I.E.L.D. | Human | 28 Years Old

Gabriela was the daughter of a leader in the Mendellin cocaine cartel, growing up unaware of her father's activities in a modest house in Bogota, Columbia with her mother until his life collided with theirs -- something he'd tried to prevent. One day, her mother went to check on her then 10-year-old daughter, and was instead killed as a member of a guerilla group that the cartel had recently started having problems with continued on his way to her daughter's bedroom. He only had orders to merely kidnap the child, not kill her, she was knocked out and spared the sight of her mother's body.

The next three days were tortuous for the young and innocent girl, who had gone from a life of dolls and books and art to the center of the illegal drug trade. Gabriela was kept in a cage, buried behind crates of high-powered assault rifles, and but for brief moments where she was brought food and drink she didn't see or talk to anyone. This spared her from the largest amount of the emotional trauma and scarring, but she spent three days in that cage, frightened and helpless and afraid of everything around her. Gabriela wanted someone from her family, anyone, to show up.

The kidnapping came to a head when her father and the rest of his family attempted to come to her rescue and take out the large group. It ended in a bloodbath on both sides, with both sides largely taking each other out before the bullets stopped flying. That was the cue for the undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, who had been there investigating reports of a seemingly non-existent 'good luck charm' with mystical powers, to leave. He accidentally stumbled past the cage where Gabriela was being held, and once he saw her, he had no choice but to bring her back to base with him. When he made inquiries of her mother's family, he found no one who could take her in.

She was legally adopted by the man and his wife a few months later, and went to live in the United States with them. Gabriela never forgot the three days of terror, even though the man made sure she had the best psychiatric care he could give her, but the memory motivated her to get stronger and to be a part of a team that could take the cartels and the guerillas down. She joined S.H.I.E.L.D with the codename 'Spitfire' and never looked back.

Open Character: Matthew "Matt" Murdock | Biologically Enhanced Human | Lawyer | Alignment: S.H.I.E.L.D. | 32 years old

After witnessing his father’s involvement in a crime, Matt Murdock ran from the sight, one of the last he would ever see. A forklift attempting to avoid hitting the fleeing boy, pierced a barrel filled with biochemicals, spraying it on Matt’s eyes, after the driver attempted to avoid him. The accident caused the loss of the use of his eyes, however Matt’s other senses heightened - he gained enhanced hearing, more attune senses of smell, taste, and touch. The chemicals also affected his brain, allowing him to retain and process more information than a normal person. With his father feeling guilty for his son’s accident, they made a promise to each other, a silent promise, to never give up. Matt began to study, and his father returned to his career as a boxer until he was killed by gangsters for failing to take a fall during a fight. As nobody cared for his father’s death, Matt vowed to find justice, and stand up for those others wouldn’t.

With his father gone, Matt was contacted by and received training from Stick, a blind ninja master. He was taught several forms of martial arts, which he mixed with the boxing style his father practised, to create a new style of fighting previously unseen. Whilst Matt had alone trained his senses, it was Stick who taught him to hone them, allowing Matt to use echolocation in order to create a radar, which let his mind create images of in his head. This sight also allowed Matt to understand the inner workings of many things much easier, as the tiny sounds each part made could be picked up by his ears and recreated in his mind. Keeping his promise to his father Matt studied law, along with continuing his training from Stick, and eventually finished law school. He started a law firm with his good friend Foggie Nelson, only representing innocent clients, but when justice was not found in the courtroom, that’s when Matt really put his abilities to use. At night he would become Daredevil, and hunt down those that had evaded justice.

Matt met and quickly fell in love with a woman named Elektra Nachios but the romance was short lived. Elektra’s family had connections to the notorious Kingpin, resulting in her death. Matt took out the assassin that killed her, Bullseye, as well as the Kingpin, both ending up incarcerated. Initially, Matt was hopeful about his future role as his alter ego Daredevil, but soon after gave up the life of crimefighting, thinking it a risk to the other important people in his life. But now something has been happening, something that has caught Matt’s attention, and is having him consider a return to the shadows as the guardian Devil.

Open Character: Harold “Happy” Hogan | Human | Head of Security for Stark Industries | Alignment: Stark Industries | 40 Years Old

Harold Hogan, commonly called "Happy" is Tony Stark's personal chauffeur and bodyguard, as well as one of his closest friends. A boxer by trade before he joined Stark Industries, his sad-faced demeanor in the ring earned Harold the nickname of 'Happy' Hogan. Known for losing fights and his ‘nice guy’ attitude in the ring, Happy soon retired from the ring and began to work various odd jobs.

One day, during one of his jobs at a racetrack, Happy witnessed the crash of an experimental car and ignoring the risk, ran over and pulled the driver out. The man was Tony Stark, thus marking his first encounter with his future best friend. Though he was offered money in exchange for saving the billionaire’s life, Happy turned it down and instead asked Stark to hire him. Tony Stark agreed and Happy became his limo driver and bodyguard.

Happy continued to protect his boss and friend, and stood by him, even after Tony revealed himself to be Iron Man. After the Manhattan Incident, Happy began to act as a consult for their Head of Security, Lucas Harper. However, he soon took up the shared post of Head of Security beside Lucas.

Elizabeth had a comfortable life. Her father was a small business owner, her mother a nurse at the local hospital, and for most of her life Elizabeth was allowed to to explore and grow without having to worry about much. Instead, she was allowed to roam free, and found enjoyment in pushing the boundaries, often pursuing extreme sports despite a decided lack of grace. She did well in high school, and went to her second-choice college, where she majored in finance. She finished her degree just in time to get a job as a teller at a national bank before the economy went to pieces.

It was there that she met S.H.I.E.L.D. for the first time. The agency had an agreement with that particular bank, and several employees had accounts there. Agent Hilary Miles and one of the agents in his team were on site at the time, and able to witness the attempted bank robbery that day, and her reaction to it. Elizabeth stood up to the would-be robbers, stalling them long enough for local law enforcement to arrive without so much as breaking a sweat. Miles liked her ‘spark’, as he described it, and recruited her to the agency. As she knew that her job as a teller would likely have been cut soon anyway, she agreed to join.

In the next nine years, Elizabeth made a name for herself in operations and field work. She was always ready to take on the next case, the next mission, and one day she came home to find out that the Director had promoted her up to Handler after she'd taken charge of planning during an op that had almost gone very badly. She accepted, despite having reservations about her own ability to lead a team, which the Director acknowledged... and told her to deal with on her own time.

Jason Fulton was born into a loving family in West Virginia. He was an only child with both parents lovingly invested in his future. However, at the age of thirteen, Jason's mutant abilities manifested. In an angry rage at school, he manipulated a steel ruler in his hand and changed it into a spear with thoughts of impaling the boy who had bullied him every day. Jason’s life as he knew it ended the next day when his parents, frightened of having a "monster" for a son, abandoned him and left him to his own devices.

Abandoned and homeless, Jason resorted to living on the streets for the next few years. His powers were formidable but he had trouble controlling them. Because of his inability to control them, he often ended up in trouble with various street gangs. One of these gangs attacked Jason while he was sleeping, almost killing him, but in an act of desperation, Jason took their lives, manipulating solid objects around him into weapons he could use to defend himself. Jason stopped using his powers, haunted by the memory of killing the group of young men, and chose instead to die slowly in the streets. He was at the brink of starvation when a man named Charles Xavier found him. The man promised Jason a roof under his head, food in his stomach, and a way to learn control over his powers; though he was hesitant at first, Jason agreed.

Jason loved his years Xavier’s School for the Gifted, learning how to master his abilities, until at the age of thirty, he was invited by Nick Fury to join S.H.I.E.L.D. . Jason knew the reason behind Fury’s offer; the Director required a mutant with enough harness over his powers to teach other agents like him and so, he accepted Fury’s offer and became S.H.I.E.L.D.’s first mutant Handler.

Born in London, England, Isabel Ann Thompson was raised by her aunt and uncle after the death of her parents at the age of six. Confident and driven, Isabel always strived to be the best of the best, often secluding herself with her books rather than facing society and its tardy song and dance. Her hard work paid off and she was soon accepted into Cambridge University, studying to major in Literature in hopes of becoming an esteemed author.

It was in Cambridge University, that she was approached by a man named Hugh Constantine who informed her of her parent’s true fate; they did not die in a car crash but were in fact SIS agents who’d been assassinated by Russian spies. He then offered a choice, either remain in Cambridge and resume studies or join the Secret Service and serve her country; it wasn’t a hard choice to make.

For the next few years, Isabel continued to serve her country to the best of her abilities and on occasion, worked with an American Organization that called themselves S.H.I.E.L.D. Their methods of operations intrigued her as she continued to provide her assistance as a liaison to the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Her work ethic did not go unnoticed by Nick Fury who, offered Isabel a deep cover mission; to spy on Agent Phil Coulson, monitor his progress on the Avengers Initiative, and report back directly to him.

She left England, moved to Portland and joined the Portland Orchestra, knowing Phil Coulson’s fondness for classical music. The two met and soon started a relationship. Falling in love was never part of the job description, but Isabel didn't know that it was love until it was too late; she had been emotionally compromised. She ended the relationship and took herself off the case. Unable to stand herself, and knowing full well that the feelings wouldn’t disappear, she moved back to England and to her job at SIS. It was there that she heard of Phil Coulson’s death at the hands of Loki Laufeyson. Isabel wasted no time and flew out to New York, searching for the Norse God and his whereabouts, where she resumed contact with S.H.I.E.L.D. and its Director, who offered her a full time job as a field agent.

Consumed with revenge, Isabel accepted, unaware that Phil Coulson was alive.

Some little kids want to be fire fighters, or doctors, or police officers. Interests differ from child to child. One thing many little boys want, is to grow up to be James Bond. For Hilary Miles, that want was a need, and from that need grew a passion that burned into adulthood. A passion that pushed him through his training at the police academy, raised him up high in the detective ranks, and caused his career to soar all the way up to the CIA by the age of 30. He dropped his first name, a source of constant teasing no matter how old he got, and started going simply by Miles.

Miles was the best of the best. Deadly with any firearm and ruthless to boot. Ever the ladies man, he would sleep with a different woman almost every night, but still took his job very seriously. The model agent with the model resume at the dream job. He didn't think it could get any better, until an organization calling themselves S.H.I.E.L.D. contacted him. They had heard of him, and wanted him in their ranks. Miles was ecstatic. He'd not just be a secret agent, but the secret agent. A true James Bond. The little boy in him jumped for joy as he packed his bags and was on his way out of Virginia to New York in a matter of hours.

He trained for months, getting used to the SHIELD regimen and very anxious to go on his first mission. When that time finally came, Miles found himself infiltrating the compound of a very dangerous, powerful drug lord in Brazil that simply went by the name "Diabo". Miles thought it would be a quick in and out mission, but he was in for a surprise when he reached Diabo. Those many nights of sleeping with countless women had left Miles with a daughter he'd never known, and Diabo had a gun pointed at her head.

Despite his best efforts, Miles was unable to defuse the situation in time to save his daughter. A bullet passed through her brain and only a moment later Diabo suffered the same fate. Not even a day later, Miles' letter of resignation was on Fury's desk, and he disappeared deep off the radar. Twenty-one years passed, and Miles hadn't been heard of since. With the recent influx of new agents, SHIELD realized they needed more handlers. Able to track down anyone with enough effort, SHIELD was able to contact Miles deep in the Alaskan wilderness and gave him one last order he begrudgingly found the need to follow: Come out of retirement and lead his own team of agents to learn from his mistakes.

Open Character: Aurora Jackson | Human | S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Recruit | Alignment: S.H.I.E.L.D. | 26 years old

Aurora was the middle child of three. Her older sister, Renata, was an accomplished dancer, and her younger brother, Avery, had always wanted to be a doctor. The three Jackson children were intelligent and driven, and these qualities were encouraged by their loving parents. This only led to success for the siblings. Aurora graduated high school at 16, finished college and the police academy by 20, and, at 22, became the youngest detective the LAPD had ever seen. 

Being not only the youngest detective, but a young, attractive female on the force didn't always make things easy for Aurora, but she was driven and strong and determined to prove herself. Her one-track focus on her career earned her not only accolades from her superiors, but the nickname "Ice Queen" from her peers.

Aurora's talents brought success to the force until she was 25, when she got on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar while working protection detail for Tony Stark. She was approached by Nick Fury himself about training to become an Agent with S.H.I.E.L.D. Unwilling to leave her current job, she politely declined.

When Manhattan was attacked by creatures from outer space, Aurora witnessed the death of Jacob Ernest, her partner of 5  years. Out of a job, and distraught over the death of her partner, she called S.H.I.E.L.D. about their job offer one year prior. Since they were short on agents, she was flown to New York and immediately started her training to become an agent.
