Hiromi was born in the city of Kyoto, Japan but moved to New York when she was three years old when her father was offered a job at a prestigious law firm. As an only child, Hiromi loved her parents and even though she was living in a different country, she was fascinated by Japan’s rich and beautiful culture. New York was home to her, but she often made trips to Japan during her teenage years to visit extended family. As she got older, she began to follow in her father’s footsteps, taking an interest in criminal law with the concept of helping the helpless appealing to her.

She didn’t let her father’s success influence her. Paving her own way, she joined a firm right after her graduation. She quickly became known as the ‘Crouching Tiger,’ cool and calm on the surface but when push came to shove, always willing to strike back. It was during her time at her first job that she was offered another, better job by a rival firm known as Wolfram & Hart. Hiromi declined the offer however, knowing of the firm’s loose morals and way of operating. A few months passed and just when Hiromi thought that she’d rid herself of Wolfram & Hart, she found herself defending a case against them.

It was the case itself that caught Hiromi off guard. The client claimed to have witnessed her daughter’s murder at the hands of a 'vampire', a man that Wolfram & Hart was now protecting. Hiromi found herself doubting the woman but still managed to get the jury on her side. On the night before the last day in court, Hiromi returned home to find her father’s lifeless body on the ground and her mother on the brink of death, victims of a vampire attack. Though her mother recovered eventually, and Hiromi won the case, she lost a parent, a loss that she never recovered from.

She was convinced of Wolfram & Hart’s involvement with her father’s murder and set out to prove her case against them. Endless hours of research against them proved futile and just when she was on the verge of giving up, a colleague and friend of hers, Matt Murdock, referred her to an organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. knowing that she would find some sort of answers there. She offered her services to the organization in exchange for a way to bring down the law firm and now serves as a legal aid, getting their agents out of tight binds as well aiding them in criminal prosecution cases.

A Romani Belonging to the Kalderash Clan in Romania, Katrina is the illegitimate child of Natalya Kalderash, and carries a direct lineage to the famous clan who cursed the vampire Angelus with a soul. 

Even though her bloodline was not pure, owing to her illegitimate status, she still grew up listening to the stories of her lineage. The story of how her ancestors had cursed the vampire Angelus with a soul was especially one that stuck with her, a tale of sorrow and pain that always brought her to tears. From an early age, Katrina excelled in the art of metallurgy, creating her own special and unique form of jewelry though her heart truly lay in the mystic art of fortune telling. Like many other in her clan, Katrina also dreamed of leaving her homeland and travelling around the world. Her plans did not come to pass as she was soon married. Though she was hesitant at first, in time she grew to love her husband, a kind and gentle man. Her marriage ended after three years however, when her husband died during a car accident.

Hurt turned to a need to get away and Katrina soon found herself leaving her homeland, using the vampire Angel as an excuse to get away. During her travels, word of the supernatural outbreak in New York spread to her ears along with word of Angel's travels to the city. She attempted to seek him out and offer up her services to him. She, in turn traveled to New York and to get by, sought out a job in a nearby bar while retaining her skills of metallurgy as well a tarot card reading. She has yet to find Angel but has not yet lost hope.

Sofie Santos was born and raised on an Ohio farm. She spent a large part of her life learning about the animals and helping out on the farm to the best of her ability. Even though she was born deaf in both ears, she didn't let her disability hamper her and instead rose above it becoming very fluent in sign language.  

She was a potential but hadn't realized her destiny; until late one night when she was walking her dog and was attacked by a vampire. When she found she could kill the vampire instinctively and with ease - she bolted from the scene. Sofie then started looking into what had happened: into vampires and demons and slayers. Just as she thought she had hallucinated what she had saw, a watcher called Victoria Burke appeared at her door and told her about her destiny.

She then went to New York with her watcher when the demons began to move into the supernaturally-occupied city.

Open Character: Gabriela Luis Miguel | S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent | Alignment: S.H.I.E.L.D. | Human | 28 Years Old

Gabriela was the daughter of a leader in the Mendellin cocaine cartel, growing up unaware of her father's activities in a modest house in Bogota, Columbia with her mother until his life collided with theirs -- something he'd tried to prevent. One day, her mother went to check on her then 10-year-old daughter, and was instead killed as a member of a guerilla group that the cartel had recently started having problems with continued on his way to her daughter's bedroom. He only had orders to merely kidnap the child, not kill her, she was knocked out and spared the sight of her mother's body.

The next three days were tortuous for the young and innocent girl, who had gone from a life of dolls and books and art to the center of the illegal drug trade. Gabriela was kept in a cage, buried behind crates of high-powered assault rifles, and but for brief moments where she was brought food and drink she didn't see or talk to anyone. This spared her from the largest amount of the emotional trauma and scarring, but she spent three days in that cage, frightened and helpless and afraid of everything around her. Gabriela wanted someone from her family, anyone, to show up.

The kidnapping came to a head when her father and the rest of his family attempted to come to her rescue and take out the large group. It ended in a bloodbath on both sides, with both sides largely taking each other out before the bullets stopped flying. That was the cue for the undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, who had been there investigating reports of a seemingly non-existent 'good luck charm' with mystical powers, to leave. He accidentally stumbled past the cage where Gabriela was being held, and once he saw her, he had no choice but to bring her back to base with him. When he made inquiries of her mother's family, he found no one who could take her in.

She was legally adopted by the man and his wife a few months later, and went to live in the United States with them. Gabriela never forgot the three days of terror, even though the man made sure she had the best psychiatric care he could give her, but the memory motivated her to get stronger and to be a part of a team that could take the cartels and the guerillas down. She joined S.H.I.E.L.D with the codename 'Spitfire' and never looked back.

Lisa grew up in Baltimore’s subsidized housing, surrounded by her parents and her three siblings — all older. As the baby of the family, she got the hand-me-down, both in terms of clothing and reputation, and as she grew up she looked for ways to make herself shine. It was hard, considering one went to the Marines, one went to college, and one created a rather famous app,  but she was trying anyway. The problem was, most attempts at standing out usually succeeded in that they did draw attention… from the cops.

She was waiting in the principal’s office for her older sister to come pick her up from school one day when she was Called. Lisa knew herself well enough to know there had been a shift, but she didn’t know why, so she turned to the Internet and found accounts of something called a Slayer. When her Watcher arrived on her doorstep, she found a much-more well versed young woman than she’d been expecting. Lisa wasn’t surprised. People often assumed she was an idiot because she was a troublemaker, and that just wasn’t the case.

She lived at home with her parents just long enough to finish out the last few days of her school year before she moved to NYC to be with the other Slayers. It had been explained to her that normally she’d have gotten to stay in her city (as Baltimore had plenty of demons), but that there was something odd happening to the Slayers, so it was all hands on deck.

Born in New York and raised by a loving single mother, Irena, since childhood had always dreamt of joining the police force. Her mother worked three jobs and continuously struggled to make ends meet but their financial position never got Irena down and when she was old enough, she began working to help support her mother. Luckily, her college grades were good enough and she was soon accepted to one of the local universities on a fifty percent scholarship.

Her lifelong dream of making it as a police officer, though close at hand, was put on hold when her mother fell ill. The long hours and little rest had weakened her heart, forcing her to the bed. Irena, without a second thought, put her university on hold and attended to her mother. Irena focused all her energy on nursing her mother back to health and after almost a year, her mother began showing signs of recovery.

Irena, on her mother’s request, then picked up from where she’d left off and finally finished university, applying for a job at the NYPD the day she graduated. As a cadet, she had little experience, she had a lot of drive and that caught the eye of her instructor who saw her pass every obstacle he threw at her. Within a matter of years, Irena climbed the various ranks until she settled in as a Police Officer. At the time of the Manhattan Incident, she was present in the field and primarily helped in escorting the civilians to safety. Currently, she is still a police officer and is assisting her department in trying to save the people of New York from the growing supernatural threat. A threat that until recently, Irena never even thought existed.

Open Character: Benjamin Hauptman | Werewolf | Trainer/Investigator | Alignment: Slayer Organization/Angel Investigations | 30 Years Old

Benjamin Hauptman, born in Yorkshire England, was one of the rarer breeds of werewolf, having been born as a werewolf rather than inheriting it from a bite. His parents, both werewolves and Alphas of their pack, raised him until the death of his father forced him to become Alpha of the pack. Only twenty-three at the time, he took on the daunting task and led his pack with great drive; pleasing many with the changes he brought to old pack rules. He even allowed new, unstable wolves to join the pack, determined to change them and give them a second chance. Many were in debt to his kindness.

A few years passed since Benjamin’s pack had established itself as the dominant one of the area. They’d also, in those years, attracted the attention of many vampires, though none of them were a match for the pack. Unfortunately, while he was away working with a new recruit, the vampires Darla and Drusilla, took advantage of Benjamin’s temporary absence. They attacked and slaughtered the entire pack. He had returned too late. Enraged at the vampires and disappointed in his leadership skills, he vowed to seek his revenge, dedicating the following years to tracking the two vampires.

His search led him to New York, where he met up with an old acquaintance of his father's; the Watcher, Rupert Giles. Giles gave him all the information he required and introduced him to Angel, knowing that Angel would help Benjamin where no one else could. Benjamin, in exchange for Angel’s help, offered up his services to the vampire and his cause. He now serves as a temporary employee of Angel Investigations as well as aids in training the Slayers of the Slayer Organization when the need arises.
