Am I being oversensitive or do the terms "adopts/adoptables/etc." with regards to buying human-like character designs feel strange to others? 🤔
OC adopts/character adopts, that type. Especially when the person who buys them refers to them explicitly as an adopt, or categorises them away specifically as an adopt, continuously mentions them as not as their own creation outside of giving credit to the original artist, that sort of thing.
With animal/feral/creature type ocs I can understand it more, I see it kind of like an animal shelter adoption type (which has its own issues maybe)
On that note about shelters: once again am I being oversensitive or is it actually odd how people will refer to "oc adopts" as being in "a shelter" or "an orphanage" and will frequently campaign to do trades in order to "rehome" them or "give the adopts to a good loving home" to "a new owner" or words to that effect.
Maybe it's something to think about.
