constantly walking on eggshells
people just don't get how school bullying still affects you as an adult. hell, adults still get bullied at college or at work. i'm sick of ppl assuming bullying is just a dumb thing kids do and that you'll get over it when you grow up (and they likely won't even support you when you're being bullied at school). and then they shame you or make you feel ridiculous for feeling hurt.
i have severe social anxiety because of bullying. i struggle being vulnerable around my friends. i literally never open up to them. i never ask for help. i freeze when i have to do presentations. parties make me anxious too. i feel like i'm being watched at all times, even in places outside of school or college, like the public transport.
bullying ruined my life. and nobody believes me.
I think the biggest thing I had to come to terms with my bullying was that it wasn’t my fault. No matter how “weird”, I was no matter how “different” I was I didn’t deserve it. I was a human being, I was a child I never deserved it
I'm so tired of letting the way they treated me control my life, but I don't know how to make it stop.
I wish I could apologize to my teenage self.
I wish I could hug her and tell her she didn’t deserve any of that.
That none of her peers should have abused her.
That all the things they told her were lies.
That she has so much ahead of her to look forward to, that she won’t be alone forever.
That she deserved to have her voice heard.
That she should love herself, that she had no reason to hate herself so much.
The worst teachers are the funny ones. The ones kids like. The ones who tell jokes and talk back to students. The ones who are charming and fun and a little unpredictable, who don't seem to treat you like you're just a stupid child.
The ones who engage with and even encourage bullying. Who break down the barriers between student and teacher. Who blur the lines between friend and adult. Who touch your shoulder for too long. Who look at you with cruel eyes. Who know how to make you afraid and powerless and aware that nobody will ever believe you, because everyone likes them, and if they've got the right target, nobody likes you.
Who would believe you over them?
