Not gonna lie, as someone who grew up in special Ed myself, I was maybe two episodes into Sherlock and Co before deciding definitively, “yeah, this was a special Ed kid.”

Therefore, I kind of headcanon that part of the reason Sherlock struggled in school is because a. The academic stunting that comes from being in a setting that’s way more concerned with social skills than being able to live as a self sufficient adult, and b. Growing up in that environment does things to you, guys.

tldr. This is not a man who saw a lot of gen Ed classrooms growing up.

I think the biggest thing I had to come to terms with my bullying was that it wasn’t my fault. No matter how “weird”, I was no matter how “different” I was I didn’t deserve it. I was a human being, I was a child I never deserved it

Why don’t we address how weird it is that we’re taught about witch hunts at such a young age? This is definitely a UK specific thing but we are taught so much detail about the witch hunts in primary school. Primary!

So much detail is put into giving a barely-sugar-coated explanation of the torture methods and the culture of exposing witches and it’s just so strange. They taught us so in-depthly about the generations of violent misogyny, explaining how we would have been tortured and humiliated and murdered by the men in power, and then expected us to move on with the rest of the day’s lessons?

I think that the trauma a lot of young girls faced from the way education normalises discussions of violence against women kinda needs to be addressed. We are forced by everyone around us to accept the violence we will inevitably face far far too young.
