The argument that harsher sentences must not be passed against child molesters because the victim is usually close to the perpetrator is very stupid.

Leftists have really lost their moral way sm that we're now protecting child rapists.

This is about the post that's making rounds on here about the Florida law.

As someone who is actually close to her own sexual abuser (it is my father) and didn't report either of my parents due to emotional attachment and financial dependence, I call bullshit on this.

A law like this was enacted in my country too (that has insane rates of CSA) and the results were opposite to what these people are speculating. The report rates went up instead of down. And the death penalty was actually applied in the rarest cases (because our society protects abusive men). I wish these people actually knew how the judiciary system works out.

My question to these people is- this logic holds not just for the death penalty but also to any other kind of punishment for child rapists. Whether it's a prison sentence or just a fine. It will always be dangerous and harder for victims to report due to proximity to their offenders. So what solution do you offer to deal with these rapists today?

I am so tired as a CSA and child abuse victim to hear these people speak on behalf of people like me all the time.

Punishing offenders as they deserve is never going to be harmful to us victims. Kindly stfu

Y'all want abusers and rapists to be rehabilitated and not punished but you don't even want victims to report. You're manipulating and fear mongering them.

thinking about how when i was experiencing being groomed and going through trauma i had no one to tell. i had no one to go home to or see at school and say wow guess what happened today. If i did and they explained how wrong and bad it was maybe I couldve been saved from it getting worse. My mom doesnt like me going over and over this point but how can you not. When it all happened because of what was going on at home and how isolated i was. How can i ever stop thinking "but what if" or "if only"
