My (Chaotic) Thoughts on Series Three of Dalgliesh

It's difficult to remember things, when you don't binge watch *sigh*

Where is Kate Miskin in two first episodes, I mean IMDb told me she was there??

Excuse me, but who is the art lady, who flirts with Adam? I'm really sorry, this seat is taken by Kate Miskin?

Anton Lesser, he'll always be Maester Quyburn from GOT for me, I'm afraid. Nevertheless, I really feel sorry for his character, poor, poor man.

To be fair, I'm here for crime plotlines too, really. These are really solid for me, I swear, I recommned Dalgliesh as a crime drama.

I love it, when Adam reacts to Kate being mentioned. I mean, he's not indifferent.

And I love him being critical of things happening, or done with something, like when VIPs are horrible. You go, Adam. But why do you have to accept them and work for them? *sigh*

OK, I get it, he cannot be totally, like, morally clean.

He's so good at investigating, though. Go Adam! And great acting from Bertie Carvel, once again, generally speaking.

Oh, I was worrying about him and Kate meeting. I'm glad they get along (in a beliveable way). I mean... really, I love them together, as a team too.

Poor Adam, he's really changed. But grief and people change, it's normal.

I really don't get why all these women, who are not Kate seem to flirt with him. Why?? Glad the memoir author turned out to be a villain (nicely done, by the way)...

However, it's good to see Adam happy meeting the art lady again.

it's always catherine tate this (understandable) and david tennant that but ngl adam james absolutely ate as don pedro and i will die on that hill

like yes it was kinda disgusting what he said about hero in act 4 scene 1 and he disappointed me (i was kinda like, mind your own business or lack thereof bro), but the rest of the play the bitch was so chill and nice and a good friend and also kind of unhinged and man did i feel bad for him when beatrice rejected him so violently lol. idk if it's an unpopular opinion, but to me don pedro is one of the play's best characters, and adam james was superb in the role

i feel really bad that the play ends with him being so sad. i feel like he actually was in love with beatrice and in the end chose to put his feelings aside for his friends' happiness. we could interpret his decision to bring bea&ben together as him being gutted and bitter over the rejection, and maybe it's partly that (he really IS controlling, with how he spends most of the play meddling in the affairs of claudio and hero, and then beatrice and benedick), but i think he truly holds beatrice and benedick dear to his heart and thought they'd be happy together (and he was right). so yeah i kinda dig his character

also what a fucking pleasure it was when i rewatched doctor who "planet of the dead" (an episode i used to hate because christina totally irks me) and realized he played di mcmillan??? which, i hadn't picked up on that before for some reason and, weird, cause i adore him????

Mini-review:

I finally got to watch this! While it's still a thoroughly entertaining movie, it doesn't quite reach the heights of the first one. The pacing and the writing feel much more unfocused, and basically none of the songs are as memorable and impactful as the ones that came before. I did notice a slight improvement in the visual aspects, though, and the sets and costumes remain enchanting. Plus the entire cast does a marvelous job, obviously. It's their energy, chemistry and pure talent that help sell the weakest parts. And somehow I've managed to avoid most spoilers up until now, so the ending surprised me! All in all, the Wicked movies have been a truly satisfying experience, and I hope to see the musical too someday.
