why was it so hard to create good live action adaptations of female superheroes without unnecessary sexualization, changing the character (not for the better), or forgetting their existence?

A few examples: the MCU with Natasha, Wanda, and Sharon; Jean and Rogue in the FOX X-Men films; and Wonder Woman in the DCEU.

I’m sure there’s more female superheroes I’m forgetting, but these are the ones I can think of from the top of my head.

Yes, I’m upset MCU Yelena is barely like comic Yelena, but at least the MCU didn’t oversexualize her.

A few of my fancasts for 616/comics-Yelena whenever I want to make fancast edits of her:

•Mariya Fomina (my main Yelena fancast)

•Sasha Luss (my other main Yelena fancast. I genuinely think all of us comic-Yelena fans imagined her as Yelena at least ONCE before the Black Widow movie came out 😂)

•Lyubov Aksyonova

•Alla Martynyuk (I go back and forth between headcanoning Yelena as late-20s and early-40s and Alla is my early-40s Yelena)

•Aleksandra Bortich

•Anastasiya Krylova (she looks so much like Marina Aleksandrova who is one of my Natasha fancasts. If I’m going for the “Yelena and Natasha look so much alike” thing in an edit, then Anastasiya and Marina will certainly be there)

•Kristina Asmus
