RGU & MGS do really scratch the same narrative itch for me in a lot of ways, the more that i think about it... each piece places their events on a stage-within-a-stage, with RGU using the language of theatre and MGS that of cinema, so they can iterate on the same story over & over again. characters function similarly, too. every major player is not only themselves but also a reflection of all their narrative analogues. like, Anthy : Nanami : Kozue : Shiori, the same way that The Boss : Ocelot : Eva : Paz : Kaz. all of the Snakes are each other just like how Utena : Juri : Kanae ( : Mikage) .... i could talk about this a lot more actually. maybe i will some time.
