D&D Ask Meme

1) A favorite character you have played.

My top favorite is Ebon Shadestep, my drow rogue/ranger I've played in two campaigns now. He was born into a house of assassins and spies, similar to Bregan D'aerthe, but far more formal. But after a century of brainwashing and abuse, his house was wiped out -- and in the chaos, he escaped topside. He spent a good few years reclaiming his identity, before eventually falling in with a community dedicated to Eilistraee, which really turned his life around for the better. And yet, despite the fact that Eilistraee teaches that everyone can be redeemed and deserves a second chance and is welcome, Ebon doesn’t quite believe he’s earned it just yet. So he travels the Sword Coast trying to Do Good and eliminate bad people where he goes, like some kinda drow Robin Hood.

He sort of unintentionally became a comfort character, and a character that allowed me an outlet to explore some personal issues in a safe fictional environment where everything works out fine in the end. Rofl.

But he’s also a character I’ve played over long periods of time, and yet haven’t gotten to really explore a character arc with him yet. So maybe, one day, the third time will be the charm.

19) Do you or your party have any dice superstitions?

All of my parties have played through Roll20, so we’ve escaped that sort of thing FOR NOW. The closest thing we have currently is I’m always asked to make navigation checks because I roll nat20s on them about 75% of the time SOMEHOW.

32) What role do you like to play the most? (Tank/healer/etc?)

There’s two roles I tend to really lean towards the most.

The main one is I usually end up playing the stealthy scout character, the one that sneaks ahead to check things out, the one that helps the party find their way through the wilderness, the one who spots all the hidden shit, that sort of thing. High passive perception + high stealth + high investigation and survival rogues, rangers, archers, that sort of thing.

I also tend to play the high charisma “face character” a lot lately, rofl.

Aaaaaand well, I’m usually playing some kind of emo elf or fabulous gay, but nothing surprising there.
