Kin Scent List - Ben Tennyson

For Ben, I'm focusing on scents that are crazy and weird and out of this world! What better fit for aliens?

1) Center of The Universe by Alkemia Perfumes

Notes: Raspberry, Rum, Metal, Ozone, Almond, Coal, Gunpowder

This fragrance is made to smell what we think the center of the milky way galaxy, which contains some olfactory molecules that you can find in both raspberries and rum! the other stuff is based on what astronauts say going on a spacewalk smells like! I think that fits the vibe of the omnitrix pretty well, given some people have said they can smell some sort of indescribable plastic note... reminds me of some alien substance that makes up the omnitrix.

2) Aerobraking by Fyrinnae

Notes: Lubricating Oil, Oxygen, Titanium

The description of this perfume describes the oxygen as a slightly stale scent of re-circulated oxygen of a spaceship. I get a lot of metallic, ozone, or marine notes from something like alien technology. Focusing on strange perfumes, this is definitely a stranger one! Based on reviews, could be a niche scent or something totally unwearable! but if you want to smell like a spaceship or alien tech, this is one of them.

3) Alien/Siren by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Notes: Green and Black Vegetal Musks, Kelp, Sea Salt, Blackened Opoponax, Siamese Red Benzoin, Davana, Squid Ink, Ambergris

So i found this one off of what other people think of it off Reddit, and given the vibes of the slightly mature description, I think it kinda fits the bill. The notes list alone makes me think of both the aesthetic of the show and the main villain, Vilgax. The scent is even described as "A sebaceous, slick, reptilian perfume."

A lot of these perfumes are weird and niche, but that's what Mod Ben is into right now, and who can blame them, these fragrances are art! So there! ~ >:)

Coming Back

A little obsessed with re-entry as a concept these days. The idea of a long cold journey that is arduous, but safe, and all that is required is to endure... followed by a few minutes of being baptized in searing white plasma, no radio communications, some outer layer you thought of as "yourself" being excised as an inevitable cost, a mostly-ballistic trajectory.

It's "mostly ballistic": once you pick your lane, once you shoot your shot, you make the last few trim adjustments with your hydrazine-or-whatever thrusters: and now you've placed your bets. There's not really anything you can do on re-entry where adding energy will help, because the fundamental problem is one of shedding energy. The speed that got you through the journey is now a hazard. You have to re-acclimate to moving slowly. You have to come back, adopt a speed that is more favorable to atmosphere and breathing and humanity, and that means aerobraking. Every part of that is basically deterministic though: too steep and the heat builds up too fast and cooks you; you couldn't absorb the change fast enough. Too shallow and the exposure to heat over dozens of minutes wears you down: you didn't rip the band-aid off fast enough, you overshot your target, you spent so long getting back to normal that you left yourself vulnerable.

So every re-entry trajectory is this Goldilocks thing where you come back, talk to some experts on the far end and say "what is the best way to finish this" and trust them. The final exam is setting your course, knuckling down, and coming through the short dark window of loneliness to a place where you can open the parachutes and splash down safely, and wait for someone to pick you up and say "welcome home. you made it."

Venus Express stijgt weer in hoogte boven planeet Venus

Na een maand van heen en weer ‘surfen’ in de dichte atmosfeer van de planeet Venus – tot een hoogte van slechts 130 km boven het oppervlak – gaat de Europese Venus Express sonde weer in hoogte klimmen. Komende twee weken zal door gebruik te maken van de stuwraketten de hoogte toenemen tot 460 km – mits er genoeg brandstof aan boord is. Acht jaar na de aankomst van de Venus Express in 2006 begon diens brandstof geleidelijk op te raken en in mei besloot men tot een gewaagde aerobraking-campagne, bedoeld om de sonde op een hoogte tussen 131 en 135 km boven het oppervlakte te laten surfen en van daaruit onderzoek aan de atmosfeer te doen. Komend weekend probeert men nog tot 129,1 km hoogte te komen en daarna moet de Venus Express weer in hoogte gaan klimmen. Er zijn 15 baanmanoeuvres nodig om ‘m op die hoogte te krijgen en men denkt dat het 26 juli bereikt zal worden. Daarna doet men niets meer aan de hoogte en zal de Venus Express door de atmosferische weerstand vanzelf weer dalen. Men verwacht dat de sonde in december dan definitief in de atmosfeer van Venus zal duiken en dat een einde zal komen aan de succesvolle missie.
