This is technically not spoiler territory since I don't plan on including it, but here is NOT what's going to happen in tsamsiyu ta'em once the events of Fire & Ash come around. Read at your own risk:
Jake is NOT going to attempt to kill Spider in my fic, and I'll tell you why. Short answer: It just simply wouldn't make sense.
With Kayla involved in this story, it wouldn't make sense in the long run. If Jake and Neytiri came back without Spider and had a bullshit story explaining why, Kayla would KNOW something was up. Whether or not they tell her, her family, and their kids that he's alive and still captured or that he died, it wouldn't matter. Something is telling Kayla that there is something off. Maybe Jake can't exactly meet her gaze, or he can, but his eyes look distant and far from the present. Haunted.
She's seen that look before in herself and other soldiers whenever they take a life. Guilt.
She'll school Jake, interrogate him, and wear him down. She'll demand every detail because right now she is in the stage of denial. She's a Sully and doesn't grieve normally. While her mates and Jake's kids are mourning Spider, she's trying to get every bit of information out of her brother because he is definitely lying about something.
Either one of two things could happen: Maybe Jake eventually caves and tells her the truth.
OR:
Kayla does the unthinkable. She saw Varang do it, so why not her? She forces tsaheylu on Jake, and she sees it all unfold in front of her eyes as if she was the one holding the knife to Spider's throat. What she sees happen next will haunt her nightmares for the rest of her life.
The moment the bond disconnects, Kayla snaps.
Everyone will be horrified as they all gather to watch Kayla beating the absolute shit out of the great Toruk Makto. Whether on the beach, somewhere private, or in a communal area in the village, someone will definitely see it and spread the word until both his and her respective families have the front row seats.
Kayla looks like a wild animal, screaming and wailing as she furiously rams her fists anywhere she could reach Jake. His face, his ribs, she didn't care. She just wants to see him bleed.
Jake, for the most part, doesn't fight back. He'll block his face occasionally and maybe grab one of his sister's wrists, but the guilt inside him lets him take the beating. He deserves it.
Neytiri will scream, cry, and beg Kayla to stop, but she wouldn't intervene because in the end, she knows what her husband did was wrong, and she'll feel equally as guilty because she let him do it.
When Kayla draws her knife, that's when people finally intervene. Tonowari yanks her back and pulls the knife from her hand, all the while she's kicking and screaming vile things, both Na'vi and human curse words along with: "Murderer! I hate you! I'm going to kill you!"
Tuk and Kiri are crying, absolutely terrified of the scene while clinging to their mother. Lo'ak, Rotxo, Tsireya, and Ao'nung wouldn't be there cause at this time, they're out searching for Payakan.
Once Ronal and Tonowari finally get through to her, Kayla is screaming, "He killed Spider! He killed my son! He butchered him! Like a pig for slaughter!"
Despite the fact that no one would know what a pig was didn't matter. Her screams and cries are full of anger and unimaginable pain, driven by the most ultimate betrayal. Her brother killed her son.
On purpose.
It would be all out chaos after that. Kiri would rip herself out of her mother's arms and turn on her parents, demanding the truth, tears streaming down her face while Tuk is inconsolable, running away from Neytiri and to the nearest person to comfort her, and perhaps that would be Ronal.
Tonowari and Ronal would be as equally shattered, the same expressions they bore when they saw the heavily scarred and blind tulkun, Ta'nok. The only thing they would think, in that moment, was that their son's body was miles away from the ocean and his home, rotting, left out to the elements, never to be buried with his ancestors.
Jake would try to confess and explain himself all at once through his split lip and swollen eye. He'd turn to his brother-in-arms, and in Tsu'tey fashion, Tonowari would snap.
"You are not my brother!"
He'd take it one step further, "This clan no longer Sees you as Toruk Makto."
Both Jake and Neytiri would be outcasts of the Metkayina, and through her anger and tears, Kayla would threaten, "If I ever see you again, I'll kill you with my bare hands."
If they would try to gather up their daughters to leave, Ronal would step forward, "Your children will remain with us."
If they try to protest, she would add with a deep snarl, "You cannot be trusted with children. They are safer here than with you."
Kayla says nothing but if she did, she would've given her nieces the choice, but I could see them being far too distressed to truly make a sound decision.
The Mekayina would spread the word to all their allies of Jake and Neytiri's crime, and those allies would spread the news to their allies, and so on and so forth. There wouldn't be a single clan aligned with the Metkayina who would harbor Jake and Neytiri, and I could see Kayla going as far as contacting High Camp to let them know what they did. Conflict among the Omatikaya would spread, but the majority would remember Spider, the child who wanted nothing more than to be one of them, someone so innocent, and they wouldn't be able to accept Jake and Neytiri back into the clan. None of Jake's human allies would accept him back. They watched Spider grow up after all, and many of them helped raise him. Jake's actions would be seen as the most ultimate betrayal, even if he believed it was out of the best intentions; for the good of all Na'vi.
And if Quaritch found out? Well, Kayla, in her hate and desire for vengeance, would hope and pray that he only goes after Jake and his woman and leave the Metkayina alone. She'd hope that Quaritch wouldn't come after the Sully children to enact revenge if it meant hurting the children Spider loved like family.
If all this happened in my fic, then a domino effect would occur. Toruk Makto wouldn't have been there to summon the clans to fight the Sky People during the Calf Communion, leading the tulkun to be slaughtered to near extinction, and many if not all the Metkayina would die. With that in mind, I knew that things would have to change in my fic.
I thought I'd write this down in case many were curious about what would've happened if I had gone that route, and the answer is that it would've been a complete shit show!
