I love Parker Selfridge so much its not even funny. I've been obsessed with him for like 4 years now dude.

I'm finallyyyyyy getting around to writing a rough draft of Lortsyal and Parker's story, from her childhood to his eventual departure from Pandora, and then the birth of their daughter. It'll be on Wattpad cause I find it easiest to write on there.

I heard people are allowed to have opinions so mine is; I don’t like most AUs where Quaritch gets a child because, weirdly, Spider is always missing from those AUs, and that one tiny detail throws absolutely everything off.

Quaritch isn’t just randomly a good person. He is good because of Spider. Everything remotely merciful he’s done in the franchise is tied to that kid, and Spider is the only person who we saw, on screen, bring out a softer side to the man.

The idea of him being a perfect dad but with Spider completely out of the picture implies that he was always “good”. That he was just 🥺misunderstood🥺, or worse, that it took a newborn baby to change him when in reality, that change was set in motion ENTIRELY by Spider. Without him, Miles kills left and right with absolutely zero remorse.

Not only does Spider’s absence mess up Quarich’s character, it messes up Spider as well. Quaritch was the first grown up in his life to genuinely put him first over and over again, to pay attention and be patient with him. To have Quaritch essentially throw the boy to the curb because he has another hild makes him look like a horrible person no matter what way you twist it. He traumatised and then abandoned a kid instead of doing the work of changing or taking on responsibility. And I think that’s the other frustrating thing about all those AUs.

Miles either has an ash baby, meaning he now gets to have his father fantasy without changing whatsoever, or he gets a Na’vi baby and changes gears completely, which means Spider wasn’t good enough to change for.

Quaritch is a horrible father in every au where Spider is missing because of all these factors. Being a good dad to one kid does not cancel out the other. It makes him look like a monster who used Spider as a "trial and error child" and only put in the real effort when a better, "pure" child came into his life.

It makes you wonder why Spider couldn’t have the "good" father. Why he couldn’t have the father who cared enough to protect him from RDA and change for him. Why did he have to get the dad who burned villages and threw him into the labs to be tested on? Was he too impure? Too dirty?Too much baggage? Spoiled goods?

Anyway, that’s it. That’s the post. I recognise that people who make these AUS aren’t thinking about any story implications. I know none of those aus are this deep. They just wanna see the character they simp for be a picture perfect (most often) girl dad, and that’s okay. I just keep coming back to the hypotheticals of an au like that from time to time and wanted to share lol. I’m not saying no-one is allowed to make aus like this, relax, this is just my opinion.

"Stay." A fluffy Quarang fic.

A03 workers are too slow for me...I shall feed myself.

They had done it....They have captured Jake Sully....It was all over, he was dead by 0600, everything was perfect...

But the bug-shit sad ass excuse of a room wasn't...He could cringe physically when he walked in...2 bunks that were basically the bottom of someone's casket, hard as a damn rock...A human sized chair, one that could only fit one of his ass cheeks, even after complaining multiple times they still denied him a bigger chair....A window, sink, shower...Nothing suited for the mam who brought in such a valuable victim....

Varang had already set her camp up about 2 miles away from here, he looks out the window and sees their glowing camp fire, shadows of dancers, and he could swear he saw some humans too...But there was one eye catcher missing...

Before he could even think again someone taps his doorway, he spins around...Ah...There she was...Beautiful sight...Varang, the woman that always made him feel...-

"Those sky people home you with such a...Sad place...?"

Her nose scrunched immediately, in pure judgement and disgust...Quaritch was so caught off guard he could feel embarrassment creeping up into his cheeks...

"I know it ain't the best, cupcake, but it's a place to sleep..."

Varang looks at him, she didn't believe him not one bit, she looked like she felt bad for him and that made him feel like absolute shit...

"You are too trustful towards small pink cowards...Have you tried threatening them...?"

She had said, making Quaritch roar out laughing, a little too hard...

"Cutie, I can't threaten them like you do..."

Varang tilted her head, damn it she was too cute...

"Why not...? I did the same..."

"Wait...You what-"

He quickly gets cut off with a kiss on the lips, he internally scolded himself...For how badly his body reacted, his tail starts wagging like a dog that just got a treat...His eyes shine like crazy as Varang broke off, smiling like a crazy woman...Like she was anything but...

"Come..."

She took her hand with a rare softness, running out the room, Quaritch could've easily stopped and questioned her...But he immediately let her drag him...

They end up at the camp on base, seeing whoever warriors she brought celebrating...And he could swear he saw Lyle being flirted with by 2 women... Varang drags him into her tent, just like before...She takes off her gun that was strapped onto her waistband, she takes off her blades as well and loosens her binding on her chest, not completely taking it off but loosening it...Like she was getting comfortable...

She walks over to her fire pit, putting spices and other herbs in it, making it spark up multiple times...

"Did you have any mate before you were reborn into this body, Kwaritch...?"

Quaritch physically flinched at that...Why...out of all questions...Why that one...He clears his throat, trying to sound as levelled as possible...

"Yes...I did...But she is dead now...Killed in action by Sully..."

Varang could feel her grin widening....She turns to him, lifting up gracefully and strutting towards him...cupping his face with her pretty hands.

"You are Mangkwan now...You have no ties to weakness...No faith in the weak mother...You are one of us..."

Quaritch could feel his eyes softening at her own soft expression...Be puts his hands on top of hers...

"I may have one weakness..."

Varangs eyes narrow, confusion maybe, but she stays silent until Quaritch answered her again...

"It's you...You're my weakness...But you're also my love....My faith...My Goddess...Baby I would burn down mountains for you..."

Varangs eyes sparkle like she was just offered the world...And to her...She just was...She smiles, not her usual crazy one...But a soft...Happy one....His faith...His Love...His Goddess...A love that broke through the hot magma of her closed off heart...And that's all she's ever wanted to hear...

That night...Quaritch recalls Jakes words...

"See This World...See Yourself..."

And he did, in her...He Saw All He Could Have Ever Wanted...

Holy smokes, I had so much fun writing this, I love writing soft Quarang, and I hope this met yalls expectations! I just had to write this after how much attention my last 2 posts about the first picture got! For @raggedypina and @rerarlo 😌 (and myself atp too.)

I’ve just realized something: Selfridge never gave a “justifiable” reason for wanting the Unobtanium beneath Hometree and as far as we know he ordered it entirely on his own out of impulsive greed.

I KNOW that he didn’t need a reason,and that genocide can NEVER be justified, but I’m talking about his justification from a purely pragmatic standpoint. 

Think about it—it’s never said that the mines they already had were in danger of running dry at any point soon (although in all fairness it’s not like any of the main characters would’ve needed to know if it HAD been) and there’s never any indication that the Venture Star that brought Jake to Pandora also brought a message from corporate six years too late demanding that they ramp up production (remember, this was before the quantum stuff in 2170 made it so that Pandora-Earth news was instantaneous). As far as we know, the Decision to bring down Hometree was entirely of Selfridge’s own plan and Selfridge’s alone, and the Omaticaya were chosen as “acceptable losses” purely because of their relative proximity and because they’d been a pain to Sec-Ops.

As far as the RDA was/is concerned, the destruction of the Omaticaya Hometree was all for nothing—not only did they never get around to mining under said tree aka the reason they destroyed said tree, but their forced retreat back to earth after being attacked out of vengeance by the people associated with said Hometree cut ALL the RDA’s access off from Unobtanium for nearly two decades.

Am I trying to defend the RDA’s actions? Not in the least, and I’m not saying that the RDA should’ve mined there AT All—there are twelve other moons orbiting Polyphemus aside from Pandora; they could’ve just as easily gone to one of the barren/uninhabitable moons and mined there .

What I AM saying is that all signs point to Selfridge’s proverbial eyes being bigger than his stomach with greed, and it being said greed that was ultimately the straw that broke the camel’s back of earth’s suffering afterwards. I’d say I’m surprised that Parker Selfridge isn’t regarded as the ACTUAL “Traitor to Humanity”, but considering how many people IRL still revere all (scummy) billionaires I’m really not.

I think this really highlights his complexity as a character, because there really is no justifiable reason as to "why hometree?" Yet it really makes me think about all the times in the deleted scenes where he was hesitant to blow hometree, showed remorse to Grace, didn't want to give in and even blow the tree until Qauritch pressured him, and all the looks of remorse and guilt that made it into the final cut. If he really did chose hometree out of pure greed, why did he bother choosing diplomacy for so long? He's so much more deeper than people think. I would love to expand on this

I think the song "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame fits perfectly as a song for Parker and Lortsyal when they first started "seeing eachother."

The lyrics "I feel her, I see her, the sun caught in her raven hair is blazing me out of all control." Would be Parker's inner turmoil struggling with the fact that he's befriending a Na'vi, the very people he thinks so little of, this one woman is changing his mind through her gentle nature and shared interests (golf mainly lol).

As the song progresses and so does their "friendship", Parker struggles with the same thing that Frollo does, in a way. Parker cannot admit to himself that he is slowly having a change of heart for the Na'vi, it goes against everything he stands for, he can't let himself fall for her. He struggles a lot with fighting his feelings, much like Frollo, and blames Lortsyal herself for making him fall rather than looking inwards.

Promt: If your OCs/self-inserts had a fandom, who would be the most hated and loved character(s)?

If Lortsyal had her own fandom I think that her and Parker would be the most loved characters, as the whole story is set around their love. I think Jake Sully and the scientists would be the most disliked as they cause heart break and stress to the main characters! Ahem, like Jake Sully banishing Parker and the RDA, leaving Lortsyal alone.

🥀Varang headcanons angst🥀

Some Quarang ones too

•Back when she was younger, her dad was a complete asshole, abusive, mentally and physically sometimes even sexually....(AFTER her mom's death).

•I do headcanon that she is hypersexual due to some of the abuse she endured as a child.

•Her and Quaritch have nightmares, especially Varang after the 3rd movie, that's why they cuddle so much, they found comfort in each other's touches.

•She has PTSD from certain noises, rumbling type sounds, it always makes her leave her yurt to see if the mountain has come to claim her faith again.

•The reason has her bald spot is that it was yanked out when she fell down a tree after falling out of her mother's arms, she didn't even know until she felt the blood running down her face.

•Her mother used to sing her a lullaby, and Varang forgot it one day and she never even tried to remember it...Demeaning it weak and useless if she could not even remember it.

•The first time Quaritch ever saw her without the ash, she got defensive and covered herself or tried to, insecure about her scars and burns, since she's supposed to be perfect.

•She doesn't want to have a child, not because she won't love it, it's because she fears she will love it, and that's a weakness no even she could overcome.

•Quaritch was the first one she sought comfort to after the 3rd movie, sobbing in his arms out of fear, thinking herself a coward, he's the only one she's truly weak for...

He knows he has a kid, but got sent away back to Earth before she was even born, he didn't even know if he had a son or daughter. It's been almost 17 years since he saw Lortsyal, he hasn't met his kid at all, like imagine the emotions omg. I can't wait
