jeremy has a fight with his family before a game and after it's over and they end up winning, the trojans split between where they'd go celebrate. some of them heading to a little party at cat and laila's house. jeremy, as always, tries to act like everything's fine. but drinking more than usual, he gets totally wasted.

when he runs to the bathroom to throw up, jean still doesn't leave his side. after flushing, jeremy gives him a small awkward smile followed by an "i'm sorry you had to see that". jean stays still, just watching him. and jeremy is so so tired. the emotional and physical exhaustion from the fight, the game and the alcohol finally getting to him. leaning his back against the wall, he lets his eyes close for a few seconds and consequently falls asleep. jean is upset, he doesn't like seeing the so vibrant captain sunshine like that. so worn out, so not like himself.

this wouldn't be the first time jean ever took care of someone, at least this time there wasn't injuries and possibly broken bones involved. carefully, he slid one arm under jeremy's knees and the other supported his back. he made sure jeremy's head was in a good position agaisnt his chest before standing up with ease. he starts leaving the bathroom, everyone seemed to be out in the backyard and jean was grateful for it. entering the room he shared with jeremy, and as gentle as he could manage, he put him on his bed.

jeremy let a content little sigh as he curled into himself, and jean's heart did that weird thing that it always did everytime jeremy smiled or looked at him. he allowed himself to stare at the blonde freckled boy laying on the bed before making his way to his own.

"jean? everything okay?"

cat appeared at the door, a worried look on her face as she saw jeremy on the bed. she had talked briefly to him about the fight he had in the morning, they were supposed to talk more about it when they got home.

"had too much to drink." jean pointed to jeremy on the bed. "he fell asleep on your bathroom floor and i brought him here."

kneeling in front of jeremy, cat gives him a soft and tender forehead kiss. her heart hurt for her friend. she turned back to jean. a small smile on her face.

"you are good for him. you are as good for him as he is for you."

jean looked away, uncomfortable and unsure of what to do. he then felt a kiss pressed on his own forehead before cat left the bedroom.

jeremy's asleep face was, once again, the last thing jean saw before letting the peaceful darkness consume him that night.

If you think about it, Andrew and Neil are literally Reki and Langa but if they would have grown up in healthy and loving families.

French in AFTG

I said I would post a second though today, here it is (not that I think anyone is actually following it but it’s continuity for myself.)

I love the All for the Game serie by Nora Sakavic, what I’m saying here isn’t a negative critism about the book. It’s more like “It would have been awesome if ...”

I don’t speak German and Japanese well enough to know if it is the same, but the text that is suposed to be French in the books was never translate in French. It would have been awesome if the author had actually took what she wanted to say in French and translated in English in order to keep the closer possible to the French way of saying things, even if it made it a bit less natural in English. It could have really show the change of langage while staying in English

I made some example, but I’m not a professional translator so if someone read this and see a mistake (uncorrect english, not  the same meaning in the two versions) please tell me ^^. Also I only translate what is supose to be in French not the text around and this is the French I speak so nothern French (France), Jean who teach Kevin French is said to be from Marseille so his French might be slightly different sometimes :

Original text : "Tell me it isn't true," Kevin said. "Tell me he didn't."

Translation in French : “Dis-moi que ce n’est pas vrai,” Kevin said. “Dis-moi qu’il n’a pas fait ça.”

English version closer to the French one :“Tell me that it isn’t true,”Kevin said. Tell me that he didn’t do that.”

Original text : "The next time one of you goes where you don't belong I swear I'll make you regret it."

"I understand," Kevin said in French, "but I don't care."

"Start caring. I've let you push me around for two weeks because I know how scared you are about the district change, but I've had enough....

Translation in French : “La prochaine fois que l’un d’entre vous va là ou il ne devrait pas, je jure que je lui ferait regretter.”

“Je comprend” Kevin said in French, “mais je m’en fous.”

“Arrête de t’en foutre. Je t’ai laisser me malmener ce deux dernières semaines parce que je sais à quel point tu as peur (au sujet) du changement de district mais j’en ai assez....

English version closer to the French one : “The next time one of you go where he shouldn’t I swear that I will make him regret it.”

“I unterstand” Kevin said in French, “but I don’t care (actually what we would say in French would be closer of “I don’t give a f***”)”

“Start caring. I’ve let you push me around this last two weeks because I know to which point you’re afraid (about)/of  the district change, but I’ve had enough. ...

Original text : "You are being an idiot."

Translation in French : “Tu te comporte comme un idiot.“

English version closer to the French one : “You’re acting like an idiot.”

This is just from the Foxhole Court

It would be really cool, but also very complicated recquiring to speak very well French, German and Japanese ( well actually to be able to work with people for who it is the first langage so the phrasing is natural) so I get why she didn’t do it
