requested by anon. i’ve only put plots where both muses are of age and the older muse is not in a position of power over the younger because those kind of plots do not sit well with me.

muse a will be the younger one while muse b will be older.

muse a has run away from a toxic environment (family or relationship), just got in the car and didn’t stop until they ran out of gas in the middle of bloody nowhere. enter muse b who is the only person within ten miles and lives on their family farm alone. so muse a turns up in the middle of a storm because they got tired of waiting in the car for someone to find them. muse b lets them in and the two talk but muse b has to explain they don’t get another fuel delivery for a little while but that muse a is welcome to stay. so time passes feelings getting involved, lines blur and things get confusing because muse b is getting used to company and doesn’t want muse a to leave but muse a is preparing to leave as soon as the fuel delivery arrives not wanting to impose any longer but also doesn’t really want to leave.

when all but three of muse a’s students transfer class the day before term starts muse a is undeniably pissed and has to check out this other professor. standing at the back of the lecture hall when muse b walks in muse a suddenly thinks they know why their students transferred. meanwhile, muse b thinks that the student that had been at the back of their class is cocky but intelligent. cue misunderstandings and angst as muse a tries to flirt while muse b doesn’t know want to because they think muse a is a student.

muse a is an astronomer, who’s been in love with the moon for years and muse b is an incarnation of a lunar deity (take your pick) who has fallen in love with the mortal that gazes at them every night so comes to earth. cue muse a freaking out about the idea that muse b would find them, a middle age loner, attractive while muse b tries to calm them down because hey they’ve been around for centuries.

Plot 167: Second Chances

Loosely based on scenes from the movie Life of the Party

After dropping their child off for their senior year of college, Muse A’s spouse informs them that they’re no long in love and want a divorce.   They’re taking absolutely everything and not giving much reason as to why, just that it was time for a change and they wanted an upgrade.   Devastated, Muse A moves in with their parents and proceeds to have a bit of a mid-life crisis.  Everything they’ve known for the past twenty years is gone and they need to find a way to deal.  

The decision doesn’t come easy, but after visiting their child, Muse B to break news of the divorce, Muse A decides to enroll in the same university and finish the degree they were just a few credits shy of obtaining back before they dropped out of school to raise Muse B.  It’s awkward, but with the support of their kid, Muse A moves onto campus and reinvents themselves as an undergrad.

They know their boundaries and do what they can to stay away from Muse B, but after a particularly rough meeting with divorce lawyers, their kid convinces them to go to a massive party off campus with them.   Uncomfortable at first, Muse A has a few drinks and loosens up so much that by the middle of the night, they’re dancing and having the time of their life with Muse C, the best friend of Muse B’s significant other.  Muse C keeps their attention on Muse A all night and makes it clear that Muse A is a priority to them, even if they aren’t the most conventional college student.

Fast forward to the next morning, Muse A is coming out of Muse C’s bedroom after a night of fun and runs into Muse B coming out of their significant other’s room.  Drama ensues.

This can be played a few ways:

Play Muse A & Muse B, family members dealing with a crappy situation and trying to coexist now that Muse A is acting more like a peer than a parent.

Play Muse A & Muse C dealing with the aftermath of their hookup, the fact that Muse A is the parent of Muse C’s friend, etc.

Play Muse B dealing with the fact that Muse C is actively hooking up with their parent.  

Get a group together and play all three of them :)

Plot 133: Aged to Perfection

Muse A (barely out of college) meets Muse B (several years their senior) by chance when they jump into the same cab together during the morning rush. They quickly decide to share the cab and engage in small talk on the way to their destinations, which happen to be on the same side of town. Conversation flows easily and there is a definite physical attraction between the two strangers. When the ride is over for Muse A, Muse B generously offers to pay the whole fare.  In exchange and somewhat on a whim, Muse A offers Muse B their phone number and the pair make plans to meet up sometime soon.

Despite their age difference, Muse A and Muse B have a whirlwind courtship. They laugh over the things they don’t have in common and eagerly introduce each other to what’s popular for their generation: Atari vs PS4, Vinyls vs MP3. They spend every possible moment they can spare with one another. After several weeks, Muse A and Muse B make their relationship official. Muse A invites Muse B to a special dinner at which Muse B will be introduced to Muse A’s parents. When Muse B arrives and Muse A’s mother/father turns around to greet them, they’re stunned to come face-to-face with their same-age business associate/boss.

Plot 119: They’re Just Girls (based on Girls by the 1975 - requested by fck-ruby)

Muse A is young and naïve, always looking for trouble. They finally find it with Muse B, an older, cooler type that they encounter somewhere they have no business being with their fake ID. Muse B is attracted to Muse A on a physical level, but once Muse A’s age reveals itself, Muse B lays down the harsh truth: they’re not interested in anything beyond a one night stand and they’re definitely not what Muse A needs (and vice versa). Reluctant to let the opportunity to be with Muse B slip away, Muse A convinces Muse B to take them home. Lust clouds Muse B’s judgment and they let Muse A spend the night. In the heat of the moment, when the chemistry is so obviously there, Muse B says all the things Muse A wants to hear. Once it’s all over, however, Muse B’s attitude toward Muse A hasn’t changed--but Muse A doesn’t believe it’s a hopeless cause. Much to Muse B’s dismay, Muse A starts coming around to their place, hanging with their friends, finding little ways to push into their life in the hopes of showing Muse B how good they’d be together despite their difference in age. Muse B insists that their relationship will never be; yet Muse B can’t help sending mixed signals when they continue to fall into bed with Muse A.
