“None of this… seems healthy.” Jin Ling announces slowly, taking the time to choose his words, even as the rabbit he’s holding begins to kick and fuss with the lack of attention, little claws scratching at his wrists.
“What? Sect Leader Yao and Sect Leader Ouyang?” Lan Jingyi asks, sitting up and frowning when the rabbit he’d been holding takes the chance to run away from him and into Lan Sizhui’s arms. “I think they’re just drinking vinegar because they have to be nice to Senior Wei now.”
“A-Die spends more time complaining about Hanguang-jun than he does Senior Wei.” Ouyang Zizhen interjects, but then pauses to think. “Mostly with Sect Leader Yao.”
“No! I’m not talking about Sect Leader Yao and Sect Leader Ouyang! I’m talking about Jiujiu and Wei Wuxian!” Jin Ling finally says, and the rabbit finally succeeds in getting away from him. He doesn’t watch it as it runs and hides behind Lan Sizhui.”They won’t talk to each other! They just keep avoiding each other and I’m the one who has to deal with it!”
All four of them fall silent now, and Jin Ling pulls his knees up to his chest. He’d been trying to force them into the same room together for months now, but his uncle either left the second he saw Wei Wuxian, or Wei Wuxian found an excuse to leave. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t.
“What do you want us to do about it? It isn’t like we can just lock them up in a room and make them stay there until they talk.” Lan Jingyi says, frowning and glancing back at Lan Sizhui and Ouyang Zizhen for support, but the words make Jin Ling perk up, a smile spreading across his face.
“That’s it!” Jin Ling cries and stands up, “We’ll trick them and lock them up somewhere!”
It would be perfect, if all four of them held the door closed, there’d be no way for either of them to leave, not this time. “You guys are going to help me, right?”
Lan Sizhui shakes his head and opens his mouth to speak, but Lan Jingyi and Ouyang Zizhen agree before he can protest, the both of them abandoning their rabbits and standing up to run after Jin Ling as he starts down the hill.
This would work, his uncles might be mad, but this would work.
