Ok I'm still gathering all the proof, lines, moments and gifs, but I think Odette's beloved Englishwoman is the Demon of Piper Beach
You heard it here first, and I'm also gonna come back with an extensive breadcrumbs post to support my theory

For the Grant being there throughout the series AU (which needs a catchier name), Grant would definitely take Owen's place in the Aglaeca ritual. But the Aglaeca still wants Owen's blood as a toll and the Drew Crew are like 'we aren't going to bring you Nancy’s boyfriend so you can kill him' so that sets events in motion.
But I am at loss as to what death the Aglaeca would have lined up for Grant.
I remember someone saying during the hiatus between S1 and S2 that they thought the Aglaeca was the first Sea Queen because of the crown like thing on its head
Honestly I’m kinda disappointed that didn’t turn out to be true because it would’ve sorta come full circle with Lucy being the most infamous sea Queen and then Nancy was Sea Queen for her age and also that would’ve been such a cool and freaky origin story.
Masterlist
ok so I’m continuing my binge of Nancy Drew, starting season two now ( I know, I’m always behind the times) and have a couple more things to discuss
1- Carolyn Keene is just a pseudonym, and Nancy Drew was actually written by a bunch of ghost writers- ngl I’m a little crushed
2- kinda happy owen died- is that bad? I guess I liked nik and nancy together. I think I like seeing more long term relationships, but I’m sure my tastes don’t align with the drama needs of CW show
3- aglaeca is an old english word referring to a “formidable opponent, or ferocious fighter”
enjoying this show
Maybe the Aglaeca doesn’t usually ask for a life as the toll, but now that we know she had major anger issues with the Marvin family, Owen Marvin was literally the worst person the Claw Crew could have looped in to their calling ritual on Harbor Day.
If Captain Douglas Marvin tricked Odette Lamar aboard the Governance ship to steal her money, make her a prisoner, and finally toss her overboard before reaching America, it’s no wonder she wanted his descendant Owen Marvin flayed and bleeding out as the price of Nancy’s request.
Is this gonna be a lesbian new trope? Lesbian gets turned into a water-bound ghost?
āglāc-wíf (noun) is translated as female warrior, fearsome woman. āglæca (adj.) is translated as formidable, awe-inspiring āglæca (noun) is translated as awesome opponent, ferocious fighter
Two (three?) words used to characterize Grendel’s mother in the Anglo-Saxon Epic Poem, Beowulf.
ALRIGHT, Nancy Drew CW season finale spoilers and thoughts lets goooooo.
First things first, glad to know we all ship Nancy with Ace and not a single person is saying no to that. They are super well together, RIP Owen but let's be real he was kinda sorta really creepy.
Uhh when Joshua finds out Nancy is his niece I genuinely thought he was going to continue to try to kill her for lying and I'm very glad they added in the end that Nancy considered letting him die I feel like that says a lot about Nancy's character.
I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE AGLAECA IS IN THE MARVIN PAINTING!!! WAS THAT PART OF THE CURSE???? WAS BESS JUST SEEING IT BECAUSE SHE WAS ABOUT TO WHITNESS HER DEATH?? ARE THE MARVINS TIED TO THE AGLAECA??? WHY DID THE AGLAECA WANT OWEN??? THIS IS SO COMPLELLING!!!!
Tbh I'm genuinly suprised they killed Owen and I'm even more suprised the Aglaeca wasn't the cause of Owens death but I really LIKE that it wasn't. Having him killed by Joshua because Joshua wanted Nancy was a realllllyyy good twist. "How crazy is it that the idea of a murderer that was alive wasn't our first guess" (i know i messed up that quote but I'm too lazy to look it up)
Having everyone watch themselves die was BRUTAL and VERY hard to watch but I'm confused how no one else noticed Nick and George's consider they screamed in what I assumed was a parking lot that had quite a few cars for their small town.
I hate how Ryan is suddenly acting like he can be Nancy's dad, especially since he didn't like her most of the season. Also I don't remember if I mentioned this in my last post but it seemed like at first they were trying to get people to ship Nancy and Ryan and I don't like that at all but I felt like there was a clear shift from shipping ryan and nancy to hinting that they were related like in 1×16 where they were like "I'm allergic to wasps" "yeah me too". Idk that's just a thought I had.
And lastly, I'm just gonna say it. I hate Lisbeth. She's a snake and I think Bess deserves way better. I get that Bess is trying to impress the Marvins and I have a feeling Bess and going to learn a lot about the Marvins that she wishes she didnt know which sucks as well. I have bad vibes about Lisbeth and bad vibes about the Marvins. All it's making me want to do is eat the damn rich.
I'm very excited to see where else this goes, especially since the setting is in Maine and I'm from Maine and it's honestly a very boring state. Our most interesting thing is the fact that billboards are illegal and Stephen King lives here so I love when TV shows or movies set themselves here like Once upon a time or that one Jessie spinoff, Bunk'd on Disney Channel. This show is very well written and is severely underrated.
